It is over 3 years between this episode and the next one July 2010, September 2013 I’m not sure whether the very last episode was meant to reboot the show and failed, or if it was just delayed, I know that about this time the actor playing Roy started getting parts in Hollywood films so maybe they couldn’t get everyone back for a full series, the very last episode is a little longer than normal.

I appreciate the honesty in the reactions, and it has highlighted issues with Douglas as a character. And this is also manifest in another way, Douglas took over from Mr. Renholm (Chris Morris). He was more of a side character than Douglas and allowed the story to focus on Roy, Moss and Jen. They are the true main characters, so when the story shifts in the later episodes to make Douglas a main character, the overall quality of the episode goes down. Take this finale, what was the story for Jen and Roy? Mispronounced words, it didn't feel right for a final episode. Ejoyed the rewatch along with you Neil of this show, it has genuinely given me a new perspective on it. Happy holidays

They knew there would be only 4 seasons and a special. There's a 'making of' episode/documentary with cast and crew after the final special. It's not hard to find. It's called "The IT Crowd Manual". Some people have uploaded all the extras/deleted scenes/outtakes of each season along with the full documentary. So you should have no problems finding it. There's also a few uploaders who have posted the director/cast/writer commentary tracks that are available on some of the better episodes which is well worth watching. Everything I've mentioned is really funny and informative, too. You get to learn about all the easter eggs hidden in the back ground of the set.
@djrizla420 Жыл бұрын
They never intended this to be the final episode and Channel 4 commissioned a fifth and final series. But due to other commitments, the writers had to meet remotely (foreshadowing the world a decade later), which ended up being unproductive and the fifth series was shelved. They did manage to make the one-off special as a way of wrapping things up, but due to Lineham’s schedule and budgetary concerns, this didn’t come out until three years after this episode.

If I remember correctly, Linehan sat down to write season 5, and realised he couldn't make it any funnier than season 4, so decided to end on that high. I don’t think the UK Television industry is subject to the same inscrutable cancellation procedures that American and Canadian Television are pretty much ruined by. American shows in particular don’t know if they have another season when they are still writing it. Whereas in the UK they write the whole series, it doesn’t end a massive cliffhanger for the finale, it just ends properly. And then if it’s popular they’ll be asked to do another series, and they’ll write another series. Most of time, the absolute majority of the time, it’s the writers and producers who get to choose how many to do. Let me know if I am wrong. But I’m no longer getting any notifications from KZbin about likes or comments, so I won’t see it and you’re welcome to say whatever you want about / to me.

Matt Berry is hilarious, especially in the shows, Toast and What We Do In The Shadows, but its sad to say that perhaps his humour and style dont really work for the, how shall I put this.... "modern" viewer. Something which , very unfortunately, we can probably say about a lot of great humour, like The Inbetweeners, Monty Python, Men Behaving Badly, Fry and Laurie and Blackadder. Its a pity as I feel a generation is missing out on some truly legendary comedy but I guess different times mean people find different things funny.
