I’m a dialysis patient. I have been sick with renal failure since birth. They found the disease when I was two. It was too late I lost both of my kidneys. I’ve had around 48 surgeries. Probably more, I stopped counting for my mental health. I’m training to become a technician. I want to help my kind. I know the pain. I know the emotional roller coaster. I know the cravings. I know the fistula feelings. I want to make life better some way for my kind. That’s what those clinics exist for. Making my kind happier. That’s my life’s goal making it easier for those in my shoes.

I'm deeply sorry to hear that. Let God give you his strength. How old are you now if u don't mind
@levihiggins13723 жыл бұрын
I’m 27. And I’m not asking god for anything. He’s the reason millions die. He’s the “creator” then why is he making kids die young and go without their whole lives and never getting a real full one because treatment and fatigue and side effects so often. I don’t mean to sound rude hun but god did this so I don’t really care for the fell. And before you say “he works in mysterious ways I’m going to find you and put you in the chairs next to me forever.. I’m not a fan of that character. But I’m a fan of people with real power to make a difference

@TheArmedNurse3 жыл бұрын
@@frater380 It isn't possible to become a nurse completely online unless you already have an LPN license. Then there are some schools where you can bridge to RN online. But if you are starting from scratch, the only legitimate way to become a nurse is by attending an on-campus program.

Hi! Yes every facility is different. I would probably ask the hours of the clinics nearby or the one you are thinking of going to. And I can say that It's a bit of a challenge for me having small children as well. Just because you start so early in the morning. But if you have support from family that would actually change everything! But yea I would start with asking what the hours first then decide if you want to get into it. Hope this helps! =)

@KRIZIAYANEZA Жыл бұрын
There are patients that are hard stick, but not all of them! 🙂 Just like working in any medical careers there are pros and cons. It really depends on your situation. My pros and cons might be different from yours. But its long hours 12+ or less at times and ofcourse you will encounter difficult patients, we just gotta be professional and learn how to deal with them. You will work with an awesome team that will help you throughout the journey. Dialysis is not for everyone. But I feel like once you get the hang of it it's really not that bad! I love it! After working in dialysis for years it still amazes me how we can make such a difference in their lives.🙂

What is the starting salary? Do they pay above $20? I’m currently working as CNA and being paid $20/hr. I was thinking to switch career if this job pays more.
@GailinSA2 жыл бұрын
Mikkha, it depends on the state and area in the state. California pays more because of the cost of living. I googled the average salary and it is $25 per hour. But some states are more and some are less. Don't go into a career just for the money. Be sure it is something you enjoy. The hardest part for the dialysis technician is learning to be skilled at placing the needles in the dialysis access (usually in the arm). If you get good and that you will excell.

I have poked my self before, drawing heparin. But, it not unusual.
@GailinSA2 жыл бұрын
The problem is a "dirty needle" that has been used on another person. If you are careful and follow the procedure you should not have that problem. When you draw up medications like heparin that needle is sterile (so no other person's germs). You throw that needle away because it got contaminated when it pricked you. But you are not at risk for a blood borne disease. Hope that helps.
