@@cassandrasamuelsson5826 that's what I thought. Seeing the position of the templates showed that cuts are going to have to be made into the drawer and cupboard. FYI. When they come to spray foam it gets EVERYWHERE! Make sure you cover up anything you don’t want foam particles on. ALSO, be careful spraying paint up at the fasciae near the roof. It can overspray and then they’ll be paint on the roof. Use a piece of cardboard to block the overspray. I promised myself after the siding order shortage I would mention anything that I thought could be an issue because it didn’t look like enough. Good luck, it’s getting to close!

We have converted two old dressers into our bathroom vanities and I would highly suggest only putting one sink in the middle instead of two sinks. If you do two sinks, both the center drawers and the side drawers will be taken up with sink drain plumbing and you will essentially make all that storage disappear… With one sink you will only have to cut out a small square in the middle one or two drawers to account for the drain and still have access to the side cabinets/inner drawers. I think with multiple bathrooms accessible you will probably both claim your own separate bathrooms to get ready anyway (unless you have guests) so will find the extra sink just an extra thing that gets dusty. Good luck :)

Use the miter gage or your miter saw if you need to cross cut long pieces in half or build yourself a cross cut sled. Never free feed it like you did even with gloves. Rule of thumb is that the longest side of the board should be always the one against the fence. I'm right handed and I was taught to use a table saw with the fence on the right side of the blade. The board that you need to push past the blade with your right hand/push stick is the piece of wood between the fence and the blade.

You and Romeo are making such great progress on the house. So exciting to see the exterior siding coming together. BTW, I think those 5 gallon cans of KILZ cover 300-400 square feet PER GALLON. So those large containers should cover 1500-2000 square feet. IMHO, the under-mount sinks would definitely be the best choice -- more counter space and easier to keep clean.

pro tip for the table saw! when you are cutting you want to put distance between your hands and the saw - use a scrap piece of wood to push the piece you're cutting toward the saw instead of pushing with your hand. especially for narrow/small pieces this is a lot safer than your hand pushing a piece close to the blade and risking shaving a finger off (happened to a professor of mine).

Think about accessing the drawers and storage underneath in the cabinet if you have a larger overhang like 3". It may make it difficult to access the contents of those areas. 1.5" overhang is industry standard when it comes to kitchens and baths. I'm all for undermount, as they're easier to clean and give you more counter space and won't detract from the beautiful granite. Also keep in mind the depth of an undermount sink vs top mount. It can be really tricky to make room for plumbing when repurposing a vintage cabinet for a vanity. The only other option would be a vessel sink that sits on top of the countertop, it doesn't need room underneath the cabinet for the bowl, but it does take up countertop space and can be annoying to clean. Vessels could need a taller faucet depending on what you get but it makes plumbing easier and gives more under counter space and you could turn any bowl into a vessel sink, which could be something really unique. Lots of food for thought.... When I did a repurposed vanity I found it much easier to almost gut and rework the cabinet to rebuild it for the plumbing. Hopefully something I said helps!

This is such a helpful tip. I didn’t even think about the overhang causing issues accessing the drawers! Although I guess with putting the sinks in, the top drawer (or couple drawers) won’t be used anyway.

A table saw is invaluable. There is a plastic push stick with a notch in it that comes with the tablesaw. You never want to get your fingers close to the blade. It can happen if wood binds or catches. The blade can pull the wood in quickly. If you get used to using the push stick it will make you safer. Glad you have added this to your toolset as it's invaluable for cabinets and custom joinery. I have used one for over 45 years. The possibilities are endless. Great progress on your house!!!

I love the sinks I think they’re gonna be much more practical and Space saving but hear me out with me on my idea on this one😅 I’ve thought it since you picked up the vanity that you should cut it in half. Fill the gap in the center with extra granite like you had already planned but then your drawers will be separated there will be more space in the center and you could leave the gap underneath for a little vanity bench. You can have more space in between two sinks and a place to sit down

I love watching your vlogs and your videos on your other channel too. Watching your journey has been so inspiring and also exhausting. Your enthusiasm for your renovation is infectious and i love that for you and i wish i had your energy it's been so fun watching your progression on your cottage.. RE your sink. Please consider the top and bottom measurement of the granit (where the taps go and where you lean against) on your vanities top bottom of the sink in relation to the left over granit at those locations i described. If those areas are too slim the granit might crack and some granit cutting firms wont cut the hole for sink unless they meet curtain tolerances. Farmhouse on boone (i believe it's called) had issues with the hole they needed for the sink in reference to the granit width and whats left at the top and the bottom.. I hope this makes sense. If you look up farmhouse on boone and search for vanity sink. you'll see the issues they had and see what i am referencing. :) wonderful video and i always look forward to seeing them.

The drop in sinks are beautiful, but I do agree that the under mounts would work better. And they are gorgeous too.

Definitely for the undermount. I think it will also lend more focus to the detail of the vanity. ALSO you should do a halfway to vlogmas thing like a Christmas In July vlogmas!

Hello! I did the same thing as you and converted an antique piece of furniture into a vanity. We didn't put granite on top because eventually we will completely redo the kitchen and bathroom, but I wanted to say to remember to keep in mind the plumbing piping and where it will go because we had to change drawers to accommodate for the actual sink part fitting in.

Hey MaCenna!!! I would say go with the second sinks. You always have to have a little more space on your sink. You will be much happier as well.
