I too had to write a eulogy for my dad… I came to KZbin to get some ideas… I came across yours. So many similarities as far as my relationship with my dad. Like you, there was a point in my life where I couldn't stand my dad. By the way one of my favorite speeches is also the one you picked ……the man in the arena, so needless to say. Your KZbin had me bawling. I love my dad, but didn't get along with him. As the an nurse in the Family it fell on me to take on the responsibility. I had to quit my job when I ran out of vacation and sick time. He was bedridden from a stroke, and had to be on hospice for almost a year. I would massage him every day and move his limbs to keep them from getting stiff, and religiously turn him every two hours when he was awake. I'm proud to say he never got a bed sore, and it was like that for almost a year. He was able to die peacefully in his sleep next to the wife he loved of over 67 years. In the end we made amends, and my dad said the kindest words to me. He said he was so proud of me. When he died. I had no sadness because I knew I had given it my all in taking care of him. I finally had the best relationship I have ever at any time with my dad. I too used Theodore Roosevelt's poem in my dad's eulogy… You're brutal honest memory for your dad inspired me to do an honest eulogy… friends and family didn't fly from all over the country just to hear me BS about my dad for 10 minutes… Thanks for your inspiration… if you're ever in San Antonio, Texas… look me up and let me buy you a beer. My dad wasn't perfect and neither am I… It didn't change my love for him. I realize he was a great man, even though the world looked at him as average. I'm sorry for your loss and condolences to you and your family.

I know nothing about this man or his family. I just happened to stumble upon this video. I guess when I saw the title of the video since my relationship with my father was very flawed I would appreciate it. It took my heart and my tears flowed. What a magnificent eulogy it was! God bless this man his father and his mother!!! This son was beautiful !!!! P.S. whoever put thumbs down on this video, you should be ashamed of yourself!!! For a stranger to cry at this eulogy says something very profound;!!!

You are a genuine guy who tells it like it was regardless to what people think. You showed your family and friends regardless of the pain in your life that you love your family. As I watched this video of a fellow filipino to give his Farewell speech for his father my tears flowed. You're such a brave son, who transparently shared good & bad days during your younger days... even until the last breath of your father you had no shame to share how much you are proud of him despite of so many trials,the ups and downs in his life.
