The reaping position (irimi ashi or SLX or whatever) is a dilemma hub: 1. Effectively reap - enter outside heel hook OR force opponent to turn away and capitalize on their reaction 2. Failed reap - off balance in opposite direction of the reap, likely to result in a sweep 3. Transition to other leg entanglements 4. Off balance forward onto their hands (facilitates all of the above with the addition of exiting the rear into a wrestle up) 50/50 Reaping is effectively just an outside reap vs. the reap from SLX being an inside reap. Both exist for the purpose of turning our opponent away. It's definitely not ideal to be on bottom trying to attack the legs in MMA, the statistics are clear about that, but it's better to have tools like this at your disposal and just be practical about their applications. Gary Tonon has both failed and succeeded using this system in MMA, so it's probably more about the practitioners choices than it is the techniques themselves.

@joshuaalach94316 ай бұрын
I'm really glad Pantoja has been able to become champ. Has been an amazing, really fun fighter for ages and didnt get the respect he deserved (or the money, remember the Uber Eats thing?) because he lost to Figueredo and the UFC marketing machine put all their chips behind Moreno, who is incredibly inconsistent. Erceg is also showing some cool stuff, so nice to have a main event where I dont really mind who wins and can just enjoy the fight.

Craig Jones has been heel hooked once actually! By Nathan Orchard, early in his career. Craig had Orchard in a triangle for a good chunk of the match, and Orchard managed to escape and heel hook Craig in the last minutes of the match I believe.
