Those hours you work are amazing I like those hours. I pray 🤞🏿 I get the same type of shift when I become a pharmacist. Living the dream. Love the vids. Starting working when you were doing the 7 12’s at retail I believe. Keep them coming

I am trying to become a pharmacist and I am studying and researching early on in high school please tell me if this is accurate: Lisinopril is a medication used for treating high blood pressure. You should not take Lisinopril if you have a history of angioedema. 3 of the most common side effects of Lisinopril are blurred vision, vomiting, and headaches.
@SarahPharmD

Yes it is for blood pressure and yes you should avoid the medication if you have a history of angioedema! The most common side effect is actually cough. It is so common that most patients who experience cough get switched to losartan because it can be so disruptive

@@SarahPharmD alrighty thank you so so much!! You are helping me get on the right track!😁 are blurred vision, vomiting, and headaches also common or possible side effects of Lisinopril?

I've always been interested in pursuing pharmacy, but at the same time, I'm kind of hesitated to pursue and feel like I'm pressured to take tech related degrees for the sake of my future. Do you think pharmacy is still worthy in the future? With technology advancing, I wonder if it's still worth it. I know pharmacists would not be replaced by automation yet I'm still concerned(?). I'm kind of torn now :(

That’s a tough question to answer! I wish I could give you a definite yes or no answer, but it all depends and is individualized for each person whether they should pursue pharmacy or not! I personally don’t believe Pharmacist will be replaced by automation. On the contrary, our profession is growing clinically and we are able to do way more than ever before! The one thing I will be honest about is that the pharmacist jobs are becoming increasingly saturated and competitive - something to keep in mind! but depending on where you want to live/work, it might not be an issue. Tech is a great field that pays well and has a good work life balance, but it can be volatile in terms of stability (especially right now with the recession and tech lay offs). Not sure if this helped, but I encourage you to keep talking to more pharmacists and people in tech to get their input ☺️

P3 here! I've def been enjoying your videos more now as I'm closer to APPEs. Did you also experience this sort of.. P3 burnout? Like somewhere in between ready to drop out but also I just want to finish school? 😅😅
@SarahPharmD
@SarahPharmD Жыл бұрын
Haha yes, 100%! Everyone I know was super burnt out during P3 year and thats completely normal. Thankfully, it gets better once P4 year arrives and you start rotations! Rotations are a nice change since you're no longer stuck in a classroom with the same people for hours and you're not constantly studying for an exam. Rotations can still be stressful, but its a different level of stress! It keeps you on your toes and I found it way more fulfilling/exciting :) You're almost at the finish line, hang in there!

I'm interested in taking pharmacy in the future but I'm not sure if I'm fit for it. What are the qualities a pharmacist should have?
@SarahPharmD
@SarahPharmD Жыл бұрын
Pharmacists have to be detail oriented because we are essentially the ones that double check all medications that are compounded and all the orders that doctors put in! Math is also important for a hospital pharmacist since we have to do a lot of conversions and dose calculations for specialty pharmacy driven drugs like vancomycin and heparin drips. I hope this helps!

As a pharmacist, do you do any lab work? or is it mostly administration
@SarahPharmD
@SarahPharmD Жыл бұрын
It’s mostly administration work behind a computer! We have pharmacy technicians that do the IV compounding and we are just the ones that check their work. Only time I need to compound any medications is for emergent situations like a code blue or emergency meds like alteplase for code strokes or reversal meds in the ER
