In a similar vein, a simple #2 pencil can be used for replicating scratched/worn edges. Easy to find and use and cleanup is a snap! I also find that Micro pens are extremely useful for doing eyes on miniatures. Just be sure to apply a protective varnish before using any washes, lest you wind up with a bunch of raccoons.

Awesome, will try the pencils, I sometimes use Gundam pens for fine lines like writing on purity seals too. Good tip ref the varnish, it really helps. Let the paint cure fully before you write too, or the nip will scrape up the paint.

Very cool, especially the metallic one might be worth picking up for such rivets :D Normally mixing in some drying retarder and flow improver helps to get dots with a brush, but metallic paints are always a bit stubborn :D

I have used the micro pens for eyes, but now i will try the highlights as well.

They work really well, use the side of the pen like you would with a brush, but because it’s hard it’s easier to get even lines

@@RisingApe Its a mixture of all sorts of different small factors that make it good - I've found that other KZbinrs don't go to the same lengths for attention to detail. The slight zoom ins when you're making a point do well to add to the comic moments when they happen - also, if you're using a script - its pretty decently written and entertaining, so its a thumbs up from me, chief :)

I have a super fine black marker that I've been using for panel lining. Far less messy than an oil and more precise than a wash without staining the color above it. Only requires touch up repainting if you're bad at keeping in the straight lines like I am!

Yeh I like using dark oils to recess shade, I just find it faster to pin line then clean up than to use markers but there is always space for more tools

Yup, great shout, I like the crispy highlights look but that would work well too. I did that on some BT models to knock the highlights back a touch

Actually seen pens being used before, but never tried them myself. I guess, I'm just to stubborn. Minis should be painted, not drawn. :D (I'm old, don't blame me. And ye, I'll probably come around in a year or two^^) That said. For certain things, markers surely makes/would make life easier. Painting eyes, lettering on scrolls and other "fun" things. (-: Great video as always! Keep it up. (Any clue if it's possible to use non'permanent markers? I'm guessing varnishing the model will mess it up, but...)
