Shortly after that amazing team was disbanded to shreds.. so much for the love of the sport and the fans. It was a hard blow to many in many ways.

My uncle is from Florida and was not really a huge baseball fan. But he watched every single game in this series and I was right there with him. He went crazy during this game it was awesome to see. I have a 97 Marlins cap and it's one of my favorite fitteds.

Mike Hargrove told a story that a few months after the World Series ended, he was approached and asked about how long it took him to get over the Game 7 loss to the Marlins. He simply replied: "When it happens [when he gets over it] I'll let you know." In 2016, after the Indians had won the AL Pennant and went to the World Series for the first time since that 1997 season, Hargrove was again approached and asked the same question. His reply was: "When it happens, I'll let you know." You don't forget.

I love this series. Really sucks for Tony Fernandez. A great postseason, clutch hits, but ended up as a goat because of that misplay. Also have to love Bonilla's trot after his home run.
@LudaChez5 жыл бұрын
Fernandez had both RBIs for the Indians so without him in that game they lose for sure unless someone else would have come up clutch. Who knows Counsell gets a walk off sac fly.

@user-gu4tv4hp6sthat is correct. Baseball is by far the most completed American sport. Yet in baseball you don't have to be a great athlete. Hitting a 95 mph Fastball is hard. Being able to hit a curve,slider, change up is a skill that is hard to learn. Playing centerfold and running down a ball hit 35 40 meters slicing away from you is a skill only 5 % of baseball players able to do.

For all four home games at Pro Player Stadium in Miami Gardens, for this World Series the attendance was over 67,000 . For Game One it was 67,245. For Game Two it was 67,025 with many fans seating in sections where they could not see the entire playing field. Game 6's attendance of 67,498 was the highest single-game attendance for the World Series since Game 5 of the 1959 World Series, when 92,706 people filled the football-oriented Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Game 7's was on Sunday October 26 The attendance was 67,204.

@@bentheswitchsportsfan06 Bartman was barely anything about that . The Cubs choked. They had 3 games to win and didn't. Plus Alex Gonzalez (Cubs) booting that double play ball was the true thing that messed the Cubs up. And they were still winning at that point. They allowed what 8 runs that inning ? And you want to Blame a fan? That's being stupid. The Cubs flat out choked. Your best 2 pitchers imploded and the manager was an idiot. You got outplayed the last 3 games sorry. The better team won. The Cubs beat the better team a couple years ago to erase the curse. It happens.
@shawnyoung8752 Жыл бұрын
@@LudaChezFunny thing is that Alou would have made catch I still think. Yet still 2 outs. So if Gonzales still makes error? With 2 outs they might have thrown different pitches. As a cub fan all it was? This is going to get worse. Cannot have a easier ball hit to a guy for a double play. Prior should have been pulled. Felt bad for him a Wood. Both Were not coached right. Wood as a rookie would be cruising into 4th 5th. Then he would start trying to throw a curve. One guy said. They can't hit your fastball or slider. Why bother throwing curve.

It may not seem like much, but Al Leiter finding his curveball when it was needed most especially against Justice and Thome played a big part in the Marlins winning because that kept the Marlins in the game and enabled Florida to win. Without that I feel Cleveland scores more making a comeback more difficult against a dialed in Jaret Wright.

How the Marlins won twice and have had what 4 fire sales? New Marlins with Jeter and Sherman will make the Marlins consistent winners (I'm not saying constant rings but constant playoff hunts) and Miami will be a baseball town again. Just watch
