I really needed to hear this. I realize now that some of my stubborn, specific beliefs may be rooted in fear rather than love. This was a helpful discussion for a very traditionally minded church member like myself. Thank you.

Very good conversation. However, now that it has been five years, I would like to see that interview again with many more questions brought up.

Question for Tom. Thank you for this interview. You mention the gender statement in Proclamation is a source of peace for transgender folks. Do you feel the recent interpretation by a GA that "gender" is birth biological sex rejects this interpretation for tans members? Thx.

Yes this is very interesting, but on a lighter note, I think it’s interesting they both cross their legs the same way…?

keep trying to edit my comment but some error kicks it out Been thinking about this for awhile, but i doubt that Christ will be at all impressed by the sexual sins of gay people any more than he will of the sexual sins of 'straight' people, Paul maybe, but Jesus knows us better. I could be wrong\unique but I don't think anyone (especially us men) can get through a day...hour maybe less without having an improper lustful thought. If you are measuring lusts vs actions and thinking one is more impactful than others then you are missing the point, that is a tangent, maybe later your reply's we can dive in. Are we even sure all that happens in the married bedroom is approved of oh high? Then, Who says we are permitted to lust even if it's after our own wife honest question I've been looking for that kind of stuff in my research so if it exists let me know. And lust doesn't convert to love just because you are married. Where are we commanded to have a preference. If you think of what it means to have a sexual preference how can we not call a central nugget to a straight preference lust. we're at least sinfully satisfied that the preferred target in the scriptures aligns with our own lusts or desires, lucky us right! :) Constant repentance yall story of my life. What I've mostly found are scriptures on how a man will leave his parents and marry a wife be one flesh and to love that wife, God never asked us to have a preference in the matter straight or gay just that we love the wife we are married too. The only things I think gays may be in conflict with is multiply and replenish the earth and do that without committing adultery is tricky. That is also if we apply the idea the multiply and replenish as a commandment in the big ten sense. Though other church doctrine includes sealing and children continue in the millennium and exalted life states so opportunities exist then also. again correct me or send me solid references I'm hungry for those. Sexual sin is universal requiring constant repentance from all of us and is a monument to why we need repentence and the atonement every second of the day and why Jesus was the only capable sacrifice for our sinful state.
