its an amazing car, the rear end does resemble a lot like the 2014 corvettes with a little lotus elise booty with a wide body kit. That HUD display is such a great asset! A highly desirable car; Toyota of America great job.. it would be un-american if this project gets scrapped.

The 4L V6 out of the Tacoma is a well built and bulletproof engine. The potential is definitely there to make it rev higher and put out a lot more power. My Tacoma is almost at 200,000k with no engine issues at all, has loads of power both bottom and up top near 5000rpm. Imagine this type of engine modified to go to 8K and put down over 400hp in the new supra. I think they would go well together.

This was a reaaally good video on the car. The most informative I've seen so far, great work! But this car needs to be made! Preferably with a inline 6 as opposed to a V configuration, turbo, AND HYBRID PLEASE! I thought id never want a hybrid but this car needs it. It feels so right with the interior styling and tech. It will give it that new, modern, futuristic feel. Very 918 and P1 like. And this would be silly to have a AWD system, the price boost wouldn't be feasible and RWD would differentiate it from the GTR. My 2 cents :)

The economy excuse is an absolute bullshit that is just too easy not to be used as an excuse. In the last 10 years there has been a boom of making hypercars, there is literally a new lamborghini model coming out every year now and people buy them like hot cakes. Not making a Supra alternative because you are worried about the economy, politics, other non related car manufacturing excuse? None sense. It's just a plot for not taking any risks in case the car doesnt sell or something. Look at GT86, immediately became a popular car even if they didnt shuv it down your throat in motorsport. There was lacking MX5 competition in a FR layout with roof. Most shit is too heavy these days to have fun, now the GT86 will take some of the MX5 glory.

it would be nice to do battle with 414hp stangs , 414hp m3's, 426hp ss camaros, not to mention base models like, 3.7l 305hp v6 mustangs, 300hp 335i/320hp 335is, 323hp 3.6l camaro v6 - maybe a is350/gs350 engine with the f sport intake exhaust or similar and a slighty more hp/tq tu e for the ecu. 8sp dct might be cool w/ a 7sp manual for purists... AUTOGUIDE confirmed it will be made. But they are a Canadian Publication and they also said it will be slotted below the FRS as a $16,000 hybrid. They have been drinking too much free canadian codeine. Id wait for when Motor trend or Car&Driver say it. Its rumored to be a joint venture with BMW I would hope not. It will be built though I don't see it as official just yet.

Building a supra into a 918 would make it to expensive now if they keep it simple but put a motor you can build on we would be able to buy them they are done with the inline six which is a shame but a we'll built v6 or Lexus v8 would be cool.

If Toyota decides to bitch out last minute and NOT produce this car... Ill honestly be crushed. What I'm thinking is this car would target the Nissan GTR as a main rival. The Nissan GTR has outstanding performance for a 100,000 dollar price tag which is supposedly cheap for a true sports car. If Toyota can produce this jaw dropping car with performance and a price tag that beats the GTR I would think Toyota would make killer profit.

the GTR is not a high volume car as you may think.... there is less than 10,000 GTRs in North America since it went on sale back in 2008.... now the only way Toyota can make a high performance sport car for under that price is 1: they aren't using AWD system. 2: most likely they will use CFP tech from BMW. 3: they will use most of the LFA R&D as it is already paid off

the only thing i don't like is the interior. all that flash an head up display is cool when you buy it. but i see it getting really old.. really fast. not to mention why do they have to make the interior of the car look like a power-ranger costume? hideous interior design for their flagship super sport. actually make the GTR interior look more appealing.

IF ITS A SUPRA IT BETTER HAVE A HUGE SINGLE TURBO 800 horsepower STRAIGHT INLINE SIX ENGINE! Didn’t TOYOTA EVER LEARN? The v8 with more tq than hp BLOWS UP WHEN UPGRADING THE TURBO! The V8 and Vshapesengines do not last when putting a high amount of TURBO BOOST ON THEM! ONLY THE INLINE SIX SINGLE TURBO WITH A HUGE 76mm turbo will last reliable like the 2jzgte engine with 800 horsepower and torque on the STOCK ENGINE BLOCK! What's the point of all of that work if they weren't actually going to go forward with mass production!
