Fun Fact: The Dragonseer Balloon used to have even more functionality then just revealing the monster's location when you waved at it. It also used to be the back bone of Monster Hunter 2's Siege System, where when you encountered them online, they'd give you "points" towards the activating the next Fort siege/Dundorma invasion.

The thing you gotta remember about Gore Magala is that the slay quest is literally the first time players would see his actual rage mode. So you go into the fight fairly confident, because you've encountered and fought the monster twice before and think you know it well enough, and then you go in and it just straight-up pulls a new mode with a very different moveset out of its sleeve. It's one of the things that really help cement Gore as the best flagship to me, the build-up to it is incredibly well-managed.

One of the beauty of 4U is the ability to craft armor set of monsters not inculded in the game by trading specific monster parts to wycoon.

Eat for felyne supercat to not drop eggs when attacked by small monsters. Felyne lander let’s you drop distances with eggs. Makes the egg quests bareable

Honestly Imo it’s just too much hassle, time consuming and convenient. I rarely take advantage of this strategy. That said, surely the other side of the coin is those downsides making it fair game for people to utilise it? It’s 100% part of the game, and the fact that people are telling him not to do this is ridiculous

@@enemystand2981 i also rarely did it when i played, I'd just sharpen in the area whenever i felt like it, but sometimes it's nice to take a breather or escape a big attack through a loading zone

Ah good ol Balloon guy, real helpful fella. Also I don't know if anyone mentioned yet but after loading your phials (R+A), you can press (X+A) for a shield thrust attack, and then (X+A) again to go straight to an Elemental Discharge. You can use this Defensively by pressing R to charge your shield, or Offensively and just let it go for a faster Discharge combo. Gravios has always been HUGE. And old hunters hunt that thing even without the verticality that 4U introduced. It was WILD man. And the Speed of the Hunter vs the Speed of the Monster is where the Mastery is shown in older games IMO. If you're doing great, that means you have either downloaded the Monster's moves or you've mastered your own weapon. Once you do both, then hitless hunting is a thing. Sadly this kind of mastery is kinda different in World and beyond because the gap between power level of the Hunter and Monster kinda closing up imo.

Jay, about that egg quests The mobs will stop spawning after you killed them in 3-4 spawning wave (exiting and re-entering the area will instantly respawn them). This may sound annoying but doing this will save time even more Youll cut the quest time by 60%

I'm honestly just impressed by the way Jay plays, like it's his 4th game and he's literally a trailer hunter, running into monster attacks and trying to dodge away from projectiles coming in a straight line. It's very amusing!

Ok, you're using CB, my personal Main weapon, and it has a mechanic you need to learn PRONTO: GUARD POINTS. If you hold R and press X, you will morph into axe mode, yes, but if you press them at the same time, the animation changes slightly. Your hunter stabs the sword into the shield, and for that brief moment you are guarding. You can block attacks better this way rather than just holding R, and if you have your shield charged you can even damage the monster if they physically connect with you when you guard point. I've KO'd ad even killed monsters with this. It's not that strong, but it's a fun way of giving the monsters an equivalent to you punching a brick wall.

I remember figuring out how to wave at the balloon mostly by myself -- I think Questmarm occasionally mentions that you can do this, but it's such a subtle detail that is super easy to miss. Also, in especially MH4U once you've completed an "Advanced:" quest, it will rotate on and off the quest board at random. Unlike regular quests which are always available to do again.

So one thing you may be missing yet to help with your 4U experience is mounting. Not only will a successful one topple the monster, it does significant break damage to the part. For some monsters, such as Gravios, it is the only way you are likely to be able to break its back. You can also get different behaviors out of a few monsters with breaks, so it should figure far more in to your hunting strategy in 4U than it has needed to in World and Rise. It's also the only way to get certain drops at a decent chance. Though saying much more may start to be a bit spoilery...

Advanced quests have monsters that hit harder. Low rank deals high rank dmg and High ranked advanced will deal g-rank lvls of damage. Some of these quests actually drop higher lvl materials too if I remember correctly. Allowing you to gather some G-rank materials from village quests.

for the egg quests make a special set - usually Loc Lac is a great starting point since its got Transporter skill on it

Gravios is great. It and Basarios were the monsters that made me use different weapons for different monsters. I still have mains I'm generally more proficient with, but taking a gun to Gravios is pretty much a no-brainer now. Feels great too - basically shooting down a moving fortress while making sure not to get one-tapped.

You can actually get a lot of monster parts (and equipment) from monsters that aren't in the game with the trader, I think there's only one or two monsters that are completely out of the game, but everyone else has at least some weapons or armors

Before you get too crazy, the generally agreed upon path of progression is low rank village > Low rank Guild > High rank Village > High rank Guild > G rank Guild. Also, there are tons of armor and weapons that are available without their monster counterparts being in the game, Good luck on the grinds

The speed of the monsters means with your slowness, they kind of run into you more if that makes sense, I feel? You know in games when you stop time, and you still run into an on-screen projectile or enemy, as Tower of Greed put it, 'parked car'. But the other way around.

I think part of the challennge with older monster hunter games is the hardware limitations. The slower movement of the hunter you pointed out with gore magala, versus the speed of the monsters. Personally I feel like both world and rise are easier because we have more movement. There are still challenging fights and the developers do a nice job upgrading monster movements, but still.

It was easier to bait them in the old games so I've always found both new and old games to have the same difficulty once i get a usable set and weapon. Never found MH super hard (still challenging though) till end game in any game.

Hey jay! It would be very important for you to master guard point (its basically pressing both R and X at the same time, its advantage is that its better to guard attacks with this move) becos once you reach high rank and g rank monsters' attacks may become fast and unpredictable so it may be hard to dodge them and also once you reach high rank you start to build a armor set that has artillery skill (increase phial damage) and guard skill (increase the blocking capabilities of your shield move and guard point)

Gravios is ultra weak to poison There is a food skill that lets you jump off with a egg without breaking it. I forget the name though. Looking at the footage it looks like you are literally rolling into attacks as if you are trying to get hit

Gravios is one my most hated monsters. It's just a really annoying monster. He has instant tail spins, bad hitzones. I don't hate him as much as old teo and kush though.

On the subject of leaving the area. I don't think it's something you need to do in the first place, the areas are so big that running away far enough to heal isn't very difficult and some areas have a lot of vertically to them making it even easier to find places save enough to heal/sharpen. Now that reasonable take is done it's time to do my job as the chaotic mod and start making fun of you: LEAVING THE AREA HUH YOU COWARD, ARE YOU A HUNTER OR A ROOKIE JAY
