I have a CM Storm Quickfire XT (cherry browns). It is literally the PERFECT keyboard for me. - 104key full size - proper cherry browns - no RGBullshit - sleek understated design - big metal plate in it for rigidity, sturdiness, weight and feel Got it at a nice price too (60 or 70 euros or something). My keyboard at work, which tbh I never really liked anyway, fucking died on me and I'm looking for a replacement but I cannot for the life of me find a similar keyboard for a similar price. The only keyboard that comes close to it is the Ducky One 2 Phantom Black (100 bucks).. and that's not really available in a regular webshop here in the Netherlands. I was browsing for a 'sleek robust' keyboard and I cannot find ANYTHING remotely comparable pre-built on just normal webshops. It's all GAMER shit or Logishit (my current keyboard at work is a logishit keyboard.. I am not paying money for a logitech board). Is the market for proper decent understated sturdy keyboards just not a thing!? Everything looks like horseshit out there. >:( I loathe the day something happens to my Quickfire XT... CM have always been a bit nerdy at heart. I've been a big fan of their keyboards since I won a crazy stupid one (CM Storm MECH aka The Aircraft Carrier) and have subsequently bought their Topre hybrid capacitive and a bunch of their Masterkeys Pro in various sizes. They're fairly priced, decently built for the price and aren't horrifyingly expensive. Hot swappable switches was the thing they really needed to bring to the party as I didn't enjoy resoldering my board once to swap some broken MX browns out, so it'll be nice to keep CM ecosystem going and experiment with more variations more affordably. Good, even-handed first review.
@vernoningram5421 Жыл бұрын
Those are plate mount stabilizers (clip-ins & screw-ins mount to the pcb); good clip-ins like TX stabilizers don't rattle. To fix the rattle with loose plate mount stabilizers you can put a piece of band-aid or tape or other material to shim the gap that's allowing it to rattle (you can take out pate mounts from the top without taking the switches and plate off which is why cheaper boards use them - they can be installed and removed more quickly and easily which saves time and money on their side) but they tend to rattle because the sizing of the plate holes for them isn't as consistent as the holes in a pcb for clip and screw-ins

You never mod it, and never dive deeper into the custom world - in which case there's no reason for it to be hotswap and it could have been cheaper.... TIP: When testing the keyboard noise (Switches, key caps, general keyboard noise), try letting viewers hear, instead of talking over it and giving your opinion. Also, its hot swappable, mention compatibility eh.

Cooler Master is awesome for this!!

there's also Cooler Master CK721 and MK721 that's basically the same keyboard but wireless. For those of us who like less cables on desk.

CK721 is still on sale and its a steal. That's doubleshot keycaps with proper even backlight on keys. Fully programmable if you want and lots of control shortcuts so if you dont want to install anything just plug and play. Wifi connectivity so no bluetooth lag. Metal volume knob with button. Got mine for 65£ when all those "keyboard for snob" brands shilled on yt charge over 100£ if you want all those features or dont offer some of them at all and still charge more than current price for fully assembled keyboards from CM or SS. But affiliate marketing money flows so "customer trends" follow.

@@sznikers I was going to get it as well, but what stopped me was the lack of hotswap + TTC switches. I wish they made a hotswap version
@sznikers Жыл бұрын
@@serceband yeah but for 65£ when it has everything else i just couldn't justify paying 120£ for similar keyboard but with swapable switches. Its not my first mechanical so i know which switches i want and it most likely won't suddenly change. With 110-120 for similar keyboards but with swapable switches and switches at 25 and keycaps at 20-30 you quickly realize you can buy two keyboards instead of paying for one with swapable switches.

@@sznikers that's absolutely very fair, I think it's a great keyboard and actually good value. The thing is, switches are most important to me and I would prefer to buy them myself even if it means paying extra for the hotswap option

any chance of you looking at the cooler master ck721 ? I am wanting to go wireless but wanted to hear your opinions

looks like a great keyvoard. just wish it had a number pad :/ all these "Custom" Keyboard designs never have a number pad. :/

Once again, I know 65% and TKL are hype rn but I just can't live without my numpad. Full size gang where you at ? For real tho, finding a full size mechanical keyboard is a real pita. Add the need for an OSI layout and you're screwed. Want it in white too ? Might as well search for a unicorn bro. Oh and don't even start on the switch selection... Want anything other than red ? ahahahahahah

Pretty dope board for the price

I would consider it if it was a 75% because the function row is just really useful and it doesn't really take up useful desk space.

Another five years and we might have decent affordable prebuilt keyboards with gasket mount from a big company lol
