ok but church bells in the distance is always aesthetic. I live near a church and everytime they ring the bells at noon, midafternoon and early dawn, I feel like a 14th century peasant ready to welcome the returning Crusaders back to my village.
@kjarakravik48378 ай бұрын
@@cainyourkids Mine used to ring them every hour and I would feel a weird kinship with medieval peasants every time I stopped whatever I was doing to count them

I do miss now that I live in the big city the sound of church bells. The nearest church is separated by skyscrapers and traffic so even if they ring bells I won’t hear them. Back home, the bells would ring every 6, 12, and 6 for the Angelus. Also they’d ring every Mass during the Consecration. They’d either remind me to pray or put me in an appreciative mood.
@cainyourkids8 ай бұрын
@@kjarakravik4837 LOL me during any of the Catholic holidays because they always ring the bell on those days - feeling like a smallpox-ridden peasant throwing animal entrails over the windows while the smell of urine and excrement permeate the air, hopefully living up to the age of 40.

My grandma was born in 1931 in Minnesota, USA. She loved sports, but was only allowed to play basketball on a half court. Back then they thought a lady’s hoohaw would fall out if they ran too much. @YourCapybaraAmigo_17yrsago It was a huge part of life for the Greeks in the Classical era, men would go to the Gymnasium every day to socialize and exercise, it was a big center of everyday life especially in Athens. For women we don't have many records of them exercising in Athens but we do know they held their own Olympics (they weren't allowed to go to the real Olympics) and Spartan women were known for being very fit as they exercised regularly! I think after the Golden Age of Greece a lot of these traditional ways of life were lost but they did pick it back up at some point! In the Victorian era from what I know they usually considered exercise as walking, swimming, cycling, tennis, riding ect. but I think I did see something about men exercising somewhere but I'm not quite sure where.

Yes, I think so, I asked Father Smirnish. Last Monday at church, Father Smirnish told me about Lady Robinson. He told me she literally had to run to church because she was late spinning yarn.
