Hi i’m an A-HA fan from Scotland in the UK and i have been a fan for the past 39 years since the take on me days in 1985. A-HA have produced the soundtrack to me life from when i was a teenager . I’m 54 now and they are still the only band i love. A-HA have a huge back catalogue of quality music. They are 3 very talented musicians and songwriters. I hope you’ll continue to react to A-HA. This song I’ve been losing you came from their second album Scoundrel Days and it’s a little bit darker than take on me etc as it’s about a murder. The song is about a break-up of a different nature, namely partner murder. It's the feeling you recognize, the despair and loss - in this case over what you've done. It wasn't the rain that washed away... Rinsed out the colours of your eyes Putting the gun down on the bedside table I must have realized It wasn't the rain That made no difference And I could have sworn it wasn't me Yet I did it all so coldly Almost slowly Plain for all to see... Paul Waaktaar Savoy, who is the main songwriter in a-ha, and who have written this song, is a master lyricist, and since he himself is a man haunted by anxiety, he know the feelings needed to make these songs. Otherwise, a-ha is known for making songs with a gloomy content in upbeat music. Even "Take on me" is rather melancholic, which you can hear very well in the MTV Unplugged version from 2017. The melancholy is otherwise typical of Nordic music. Regarding copyright issues, if you stick to live versions and playback versions (which was normal in TV shows in the 80s, you will most likely get no problems).

These NRK recordings from 1991 are so popular and famous among fans. MTV Europe played a-ha videos them pretty regularly back in the day. You've got some great songs to come.... hopefully. Loved the reaction.

Actually the song is about someone who murdered his partner, putting the gun down on the bedside table, But I did it all so slowly almost coldly, plain for all to see. But I want the guilt to get me, thoughts to wreck me, preying on my mind. a-ha are known for lots of dark lyrics but wrapped up in up tempo catchy songs.

I think it depends on how old you are and where you grew up, what you might know about a-ha. In the 80`s they were big all around the world. But they did loose out on North-America after their first album.Which is probably why many consider them to be a one hit wonder there. But they were huge in lots of the world in the 80`s and into the early 90`s. They had a break during the mid/late 90`s and when they returned they were on a german label. So during the 2000`s they were biggest in Germany and surrounding countries(and of course Norway). They did however manage to return to Uk charts in 2005 with a top 10 hit called "Analogue", and since then they have done pretty well there too. As late as 2022 they were on an arena tour in south america. Fun fact: In 1987 a-ha did the theme song for the James Bond movie "The living daylights".

Wow, I wasn't even born in 1987 😂. I grew up in Africa, so I don't think we heard much about them there. I also stopped listening to music around my 20s when I started working non-stop, and I came back to listening to music when I started my reaction channel 4 years ago during the lockdown.

Right. Then it’s no wonder you don’t know much about them. In Africa I’m not sure how well known they are . I did see some footage from a show they did in Johannesburg in 1994. And apparently they played in Cape Town in 2020, right before the pandemic.

You have so many great a-ha songs to discover. They have two Guinness book of records entries for largest paying audience at a concert in Rio and Morten holds the longest note in a single release for summer moved on.

@@jonoh990 - I am from South-Africa and I was at the 2020 concert in Cape Town and it was incredible. As I said in another thread - I have all their studio albums. The soundtrack to my life - I am not alone - they have many fans here 😉.

If take on me is your only knowledge about this band and you compare this band with a whatever band, you need to get a grip. Perhaps start with a wiki check?
