while i dont think ive been to an LGS that opens packs with such gusto in front of everyone, i do know its fairly common practice for LGS's to open packs to stock singles. its almost always put back into the store though, like. they use the funds from the cards being sold by packs they opened, to buy more product. exactly like shown in these videos c: i dont believe theyre used for their own decks or personal gain, but im sure there are owners who do that. most of the time my LGS shop owner will open packs during pre-release nights, and when theyre ready to sell them theyre usually the cards that are put into the big ass binders, rather than the cards in the display case at the front. unless they get a REALLY big hit.

ironically this does happen lol, but theyll usually pay for the boxes or packs with store funds and just sink it back into said store. my LGS does it for MTG/pokemon cards and they sell the cards a bit under tcg prices(usually about 10%), and have quite a bit of good hits because of it. mind you, they dont ALWAYS do it, but its a fairly common practice for LGS's though as far as im aware, and it helps players who are chasing specific cards.
