Happy Thanksgiving Jeff (and all). Below is a "story" told to me many years ago. Your tale of how you were treated by the gubmint made me think I should tell the story again. An old barber in Washington D.C. woke up one morning and felt very generous. He decided he would give his first customer of the day a free haircut. His first customer was a florist and when finished he told the florist "It's free for you today". The next morning when the barber arrived at his shop there was a vase filled with beautiful flowers on his doorstep. The barber felt so good that he decided to repeat his offer again. His first customer was a baker. Once again he told his customer "It's free for you today". The next morning there was a box with a big cake sitting on the barber's doorstep when he arrived. He decided that he was doing a good thing for the world so he decided to continue with his new found generosity. His first customer was a congressman. When he finished he told the congressman "It's free for you today". The next morning when the barber arrived at his shop there were 4 congressmen waiting for a free haircut.

As I watch these videos I listen to the hum of those engines work there’s nothing better than to hear a big cat just lumbering along , those county bean counters just don’t care about how you did the job in the past. Running a open cab scraper in the winter is a bare minimum

Being retired now, when bidding jobs, I knew who would and wouldn't. I always had three price lists. 1. I want the job no BS 2. The B S is going to cost them. 3. I don't want to do the job price. Every now and then I would get my third price because nobody else would put with their bullshit. Time is money. Most people don't understand that. Then you have that group that want you to do something for nothing.

I think on this one it's because your dealing with elected people, I've seen a lot of them come and go but not one can see the value I've provided since 94 so it's time after this one for them to find someone else as I'll be gone, thing is I'm thinking about the taxpayer, punishing them only hurts the public

@Jpaydirt I dealt with the private sector. I learned early on that I didn't like waiting 120 days for my money. Had a guy short me on milage one time and paid me only what he wanted to. Called him up and politically informed him about the shortage. He said that was what the Google milage was. I told him that I didn't driver a fucking computer please pay me everything thing he owned me. He asked if I didn't pay. I said it's a small world we live in and words travel fast. Got my money, and I never hauled anything for him again. I was always too busy. Enjoy your channel, sir.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Jeff, and Of course Mr. Griffy. Thanks for the Story. Don't you love those types of people. Back in the 70's when I was struggling, bid a excavation job and got outbid . The guy had no equipment nothing. Then had the gall to ask me If I would Do the work for a few bucks under his prices so he could make a little $$$ No need to tell you what I said to him. The job got rebid and someone else won it. Happy Thanksgiving Jeff! When I was younger and worked with my dad we had four Terex TS-14’s with a D9 and excavator doing cell closures in Oregon…love landfill work…anyhow I would have doubled my price or did a cost plus price at that point knowing they back doored you twice on sending it out to bid. I feel like both parties would have been mutually happy at that point and everyone wins! Just my two cents …😂.

You need to charge more in the cold. Its so much harder in the winter months and your powershifts wear more with cold oil. My old mechanical D7 froze in high gear until It got its cup of antifreeze. Pushing snow does not lube the track like dirt does. I would find a little pile of metal shavings on the frame under the track.

Gotta be a nusiance charge hidden somewhere for dealing with the Gubmint. It's for the past, present and future pain they cause. If it's painless and without those fishing buddies involved, then fine. If not, it's on. NEVER bail them out.

It’s a shame some people will forget about you coming in and saving there ass and staying at your original price only to look elsewhere the next go around i think anything government related it doesn’t make a difference but from my experience if you do private work and do the exact same thing they don’t forget that. Happy Thanksgiving Jeff and family keep that white stuff out your way. lol.

It's admirable that you held to your original bid but dealing with gov't types there'll always be a new guy taking the bids who doesn't know or care about what you did last time when you could've broke it off in them and didn't. Business is business but some times you just got to drop the hammer on them.

Jeff next time you bid. Make it comparable to the other bidders. Don’t low ball it. If they don’t choose you. Tell them flat out you will charge double if they come back x months later asking you to finish up the original bidders job. Don’t put up with that bs ..

Time to charge a permanent "Tariff for bullcrap to fund Christmas" the way they are playing games. You already know wvery one else has to pay high for hauling in equipment compared to you so you should enjoy some extra cash there while still being competive when they are adding in their gouge the government prices.
