Just to be clear the original TV shaped design from Mido was from the late 60s. It predates the Genta designed Patek Aquanaut and nautilus but almost a decade. Genta would have been aware of this watch when he designed his watch

Mido TV Multi Star in 2 versions released in 1973, just google it, Patek Nautilus 1976, Piaget Polo 1979, Patek Aquanaut 1997 (a rework of the Nautilus), people may think Mido is the imitation, well think again.

Patek Philippe's in-house team designed the Aquanaut based on Genta 1976 Patek Nautilus, and Yes the MidoMulti Star (Not the Multifort as this was release much earlier with a different disgn, why they named this one Multifort I do not know) came out in 1973 in two forms both inspired on the TV's of the 1970s.

Ι own the watch on a steel bracelet. It is a little on the thick side; 2 mm less would have been excellent, but the new 35 mm model has a stated thickness of 9.3 mm, which is much thinner than the 40 mm. The dial looks great and very high quality, as does the rest of the watch. I also own the Tissot PRX Quartz and these two are currently my favorite watches to wear: classy and affordable while being interesting design-wise.

Just a little too thick for me, and the dial seems to be molded plastic/resin -- not something I want at this price. Too bad since I like the big date and overall look.

It is a little on the thick side. I didn't find the dial to bad in that way. Might be better if you get a chance to see it in person. Thanks.

The manufacturers (Mido, Rolex, etc.) state in the warning that comes with the watch that you must not set the date when the hands are in the 21.00-03.00 range, otherwise the movement may be damaged. (People then often write that they have a stuck date etc). If you set the time to 06.30, you can then set the date and everything will be fine. After setting the date, you set the time and all ok. Rolex and other manufacturers state the same principle. If you do not follow the procedure and recommendations for setting the date, the movement may malfunction -date jamming.
