What's it like to ride an Adventure bike that was cut to the right size? Let's ride this lowered CRF1000L Africa Twin to find out!

Ha, you found the G spot. I have never thought to look on the dash.

I love mine. It’s the first bike that I said I gotta have. Got it from them in 2019.

Alt Rider sells an adjustable suspension link that allows you to lower the rear suspension by 12mm or 25mm, or raise it by 6mm or 19mm over the stock height. It’s a great piece of kit.

You are so right about a DCT with a throttle rest. When I first got my NM4, I put one on. Not long after, I was at a set of lights stopped......when all of a sudden I shot forward and nearly stuffed the car in front. I realised that my arm relaxed, and with the throttle rest under my palm, it twisted the grip and shot me forward. Still have the skid marks on the seat to prove it. Although you liked the Africa Twin, I don't think your get it, as there's no cruise control, no shaft drive and top heavy. Keep looking your find one, hopefully before the riding season ends.

Andrew, it was you who first pointed out my error for using one in a prior video, and you were so right! I kept launching the bike!

HEY YOU HAVE THE SAME BIKE AS I HAVE HERE IN THE UK!!!!!!! IK it looks like you have the full lowering kit plus 19 inch front and 17 inch rear tyres. That's why you can flat foot. I love my version, it only misses the cruise control and the electronic adjustable suspension. Im finding it hard to find a newer version with the same characteristics. If your only riding on roads you can stiffen up the suspension, its already fitted with road tyres. if your interested we can compare notes. i have made a few more mods and have a couple of things to change myself. lovely to see another bike like mine on the road.

Sadly, it's not my bike, just a test ride. If it had any form of cruise control, I would have bought it. I bought Motto Guzzi V85tt instead, which doesn't have nearly as much pull.

The biggest I have about a lowering kit is how it effects using the center stand. Hard to know without an easy comparison with OEM height, but still - an issue or not an issue?
@Comm0ut3 ай бұрын
If it becomes an issue a welder could shorten the stand to suit or even better, modify the stand feet with a longer curved base to "cam" against the ground thus making the bike easy to raise and/or increase the stand arm length to give your foot increased leverage.

How tall are you? What is your inseam? Would love a AF but it is very tall.
@ridingwithmarshall Жыл бұрын
I'm 5' 10", 31" inseam. I'm guessing they used a 4" lowering link.

Do you know what lowering kit was used? Do you know how much it was lowered? I also have a NC700X and I also have a 2019 AT and I feel like I'm riding a Sherman Tank when I'm on my AT.

William, all I know is it has a lowering link. I want one with the same height though, because it can still do the average dirt road just fine. I'm sure it's at least 2" lower.
