As a Viet Nam vet watching what just happened in Afghanistan, it's like looking into a time capsule i.e., (Saigon, Kabul). Matt, your same words would have been appropriate over 50 years ago. God bless you, and all our military families. We are free because of your sacrifices. You will NEVER be forgotten!

Thank you for your service. Excellent video and very well said. While I did not serve, I work as a mental health clinician with vets who are pissed and hurt with the withdrawal from Afghanistan. I'm my heart goes out to the vets and their families.

Thanks for your service Matt. My Grandfather served with the 173rd Airborne in Vietnam, and it was by the grace of God that he made it back, met my grandmother, married her, and settled down. He was diagnosed with dementia around 2004-2005 due to his exposure to Agent Orange, and passed away exactly one week before my birthday in 2012. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him, and it pains me to think that the families of many Afghanistan veterans will experience similar pain. Needless to say, the events that have unfolded in Afghanistan have hit very hard due to the parallels with the Vietnam War.

Thank you Matt for your words and thank you to all who served. You’re in our hearts, America will live on thanks to those who fought. There’s a motto that originated where I’m from called “EDIUSAIAFAD” Meaning “Every Day In U.S.A Is Armed Forces Appreciation Day”

Matt.. Well said my fellow veteran. Your thoughts and those written by John Karas below have brought back memories of similar activities taking place in this great country years ago. When I returned from Viet Nam in 1966, the hostility of many of our countrymen was shocking. However, that attitude towards veterans changed over many years and it has made me and many other veterans super proud every time someone would say 'Thank you for your service.' Thank you for your service Matt.

I think I might have shared one of those memes myself. But I'm gonna refrain from here on out. Not refraining from discussing it, but from making statements that might imply that those veterans fought worked and died for nothing. Because you're right, man. They didn't die for nothing.

Matt, I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now, emotionally. All I have to say is that “The Douche Bag in Office” is a disgrace to the United States, its allies, our U.S. Military and Veterans (including you, Matt) and not to mention the victims and survivors of 9/11 and Benghazi. Speaking for myself, I’m not even a U.S. Military Veteran and I am outraged. I actually lost an Xbox Live buddy who was KIA over there. In closing, I know exactly what I’m going to be doing come 2022 and 2024. God Bless America and our Military.

Thank you for your service Matt! I'm not a veteran.. but veterans should definitely not feel like it's there fault. Our Soldiers have fought for 20 something years in the Middle East, and prevailed at keeping the Taliban at bay. We have also trained and equipped there military for that same amount of time... Eventually the time comes when you just have to say, it's time to fight or fall. It's evident their military must not have even fired one bullet at the Taliban. Almost like the Afghan military just walked out right behind our military as we pulled out. Again, our military is definitely not at fault.. its a bad line of decisions from our current administration as well as their military not putting up any resistance to the Taliban.

Let's not forget that the former administration wanted to be out of Afghanistan last May. We have been equipping, arming, and training the Afghans for twenty years, but as soon as we aren't holding their hands, they lay down their arms and surrender. If they won't fight for their freedom, why should we?

Ahh, president Houseplant... Amazing what ineffectual leadership will yield.
