A Metroid Fusion Retrospective

Video game sequels are always a bit of a weird problem. Developers have to ride this impossible tightrope of providing more of the same while simultaneously giving players something new. If you never introduce new ideas then the series gets stale. If you shake up the franchise too much it becomes disconnected from the original vision. Many people point to Metroid Other M as being the most divisive entry in the series, but I don’t think so. The level of rage levied towards Other M is immeasurable and it far outweighs the mear whispers of those who defend it. When it comes to Metroid games, the entry that easily has the loudest praise with equally loud descent, has to be, Metroid Fusion.
