ST50 my bedroom TV. With DNICE settings. In 2023 the PQ beats SO many modern TVs in many areas. No blooming. Smoother motion. Great contrast. Sad that it didnt stick around because for me it was an irreplaceable technology.

Still rocking a Pioneer Kuro😅 nothing comes close for SDR content even 14 years on. There is an incandescent quality to the images that I don't see even in modern OLEDs.

In real life, the Samsung plasma wasn't nearly as good as the Panasonic. The Samsung did not have the inky blacks that the Panasonic could produce. I owned a Panasonic and my nephew owned the Samsung that you mentioned.

If memory serves, the Panasonic ZT60 was the king of TVs that year. That being the case I’m not sure the differences between the ZT60 and the F8500 are so large that Caleb’s comparison would have turned out much different.

The f-8500 has floating blacks so they are never stable. Even at their best they were not as good as a Panasonic ST60 or the VT/ZT. A reset 9th gen Pioneer Kuro utterly destroys every single Panasonic plasma black level. You can get them to 98% OLED level.
