Hi Borut Such a fantastic channel you have really put a lot of work into it and it shows.Thank you 🤘 Quick question if I may. When varnishing a plate or tin can I use my RC paper dryer which basically is a wire shelf in a open ended box with a warm fan to heat. Or do I only use an open flame ? Any advice would really be helpful as I’m gathering information for doing my first plate. Thank you Michael

I'm avoiding open flame due to the flammable alcohol in the varnish. I use electric grill and your RC dryer sounds just as good.

Ha, the last time I've done nude photography or a self-portrait project was in 1998, at the Famu Academy. I'm on the photo, because I want to work and experience the nature alone in kind of meditive state. I'm nude, because I didn't had any other ideas how to make it timeless, to reduce the information away from the egoistic self, which fashion is based upon. My self portraits aren't about how I look, I have 5 kilograms too much and I'm 45 years old. As you see my work is very different from the usual motif of a nude lady in a beautiful forest.

Hi Borut. Seems you had a prolific day, shooting as many plates as you did. I think you found the rhythm in nature while integrating your camera/processes and your subject/self. I think bare feet can make one feel more grounded on this plane and more connected to Creation. Do you feel you are more connected to this body of work regardless of being the subject in the environmental portrait? Some images seem reminiscent of one of my favorites, Wynn Bullock's work. I appreciate your ability to maintain focus on your still photography while videoing, editing and sharing content. I find it can distract from my focus/vision at times when I bring both a 6x17 and 4x5 or color and B&W film emulsions. Good choice on the selection and volume of accompanying music. Thanks for continuing to provide great content. Peace!

Thanks. I've been in the woodlands for five days. I was running low on batteries, so I was saving batteries. Barefoot is a great way to be. I used to run barefoot through a forest and all the cuts and bruises I consider as a free acupuncture, he, he... Yes, for me and for you, it does make a stronger connection to the ground.

Oh, video recording is a huge distraction, but I've changed my perception what am I doing there, so I'm not goal driven to make a photo, I'm there to experience everything. Video is part of my work. It takes a lot of time, but it's peaceful and graceful time, so I enjoy it.

Hi Borut. What a wonderful and deeply personal project. I enjoyed this video very much indeed. One question, if I may: what is the liquid in the yellow bottle you use as a last step to cleaning the glass? I've sometimes had trouble getting (commercially bought) emulsion to stick reliably. I normally use alcohol but perhaps what you use might be better?

If you mean the yellow bottle, it's the cheapest dish detergent. Oh the sevond yellow bottle is denatured alcohol. Try beating one egg white in 300ml of water, then add 700ml and filter it three times through a cotton ball. Coat the clean glass with a brush or cotton ball. Subb either only edges or the whole plate. Collodion layer will stick after that, no doubt.
