I started my Way of Kings re-read getting ready for book 5 last week, I have been listening to you after each episode and love the details you pick up, it really helps me get back into the world, its a shame you aren't all the way up to the end of Rhythm of War as I'd have loved to listen along, I will finish the books then come back to follow each week

Makes sense character-wise, but Szeth is also literate, so Sig isn't totally necessary for the book to be written. Edit: Chapter 5 seems to be proving the "szeth wrote it" theory wrong at least. I'd say Jasnah fits the bill more, but Sig also works.

The Wind is like the Aethers in the way that it is most probably an ancient being existing alongside and apart from Adonalsium. Makes me wonder about the Stone Shamans and if rocks truly hold spiritual significance! AHHG I'm sooooo EXCITED for this book!!!!

Oh goodness... I can actually see Odium somehow winning Adolin instead of Dalinar. Now the corrupted son of the Black Thorn is the leader of Odium's forces. Then the back half is our remaining survivors (Renarin, Shallan, Jasnah) trying desparately to save / stop Adolin.

I took the mentions of storms in the epigraphs completely differently. 1. The old storm that people started worshipping was The Stormfather. 2. The new storm that isn’t as scary is The Everstorm. It’s shown the singers that the wind isn’t always an enemy. So maybe this was written by a singer? Maybe Venli? Or Venli’s mother? I think the “gotcha” is that readers will see the word “people” and discount the singers. But both singers and humans are said to have spoken to the wind.

Ive been saying this for a bit, but i think our POV characters will become the new Heralds in the back half. Sanderson said the back half will focus on the heralds. The heralds seem to be gone when WaT is published in story.

OMG this is so obvious and it just clicked. Lirin is not Kaladins father. Tanavast is. Kaladin is son of Tanavast. Syl gets drawn to him. Kaladin is nothing like Lirin (other then smart), all other siblings are like Lirin?

Odiums light (or sound) has changed. Perhaps mishrams prison is anti voidlight, but odiums light is no longer a direct counter to mishrams light and thus this frees her slowly

29:21 I think Hesina is always kinda like that. She is much more reverent towards people who would be socially above her in the caste system they have. We see this reaction when Kaladin or his dad act too friendly/first name basis with Dalinar for example.

I agree about the stones being part of the Old Magic, far too many mentions for them not to be: stone is holy, it's profane to walk on the stone, stone shamanism, etc. However, I don't think anything on Scadrial could be like that. We know that Adonalsium directly created Roshar, but Scadrial was created by Preservation and Ruin.

I didn’t read the Adolin line like you guys I guess. I read it as less glib, more sullen, as evidenced by the “storm him”-he should be sending me, the best duelist but he’s probably right to do it himself. Dalinar for sure doesn’t want to sacrifice his son and become O’s vassal. Reader’s perspective goes a long way in interpretations

U guys were talking about Adolin being a fourth tier character and then how Dalinar might pick himself as his champion which he most likely will since Hoid tells Kaladin he won't see Dalinar again. But what if Odium chooses Adolin as his champion? How better to cripple Dalinar? He's his son and a dueling champion and Taravangian is also known to do some shifty ish...
