We train all of our animals to a cow bell. Anytime we feed, we ring the bell. It's really helpful to be able to ring the bell and have all the animals come running to the food trough if one gets out. We also use one specific color of bucket (orange for us) for food for the same reason. Much easier to entice an animal to follow you than to chase them down. :) Love your channel.

So happy to hear your Dad is cancer free. I know y'all must be looking forward to having him near. What a big help that will be to Miah as well. The farm/homestead is beginning to take shape and a little easier to identify the different areas you have plans for. Thanks for the video and I will have to say, watching y'all chase that pig was so funny and all the time thinking, I couldn't do that. Bless you .

Look how much y’all have gotten done so far! I’m supper impressed. When we first came to run Six Paca Farm we had 67 alpaca - one of the farm helpers accidentally forgot to latch the gate …. 1/2 the herd wondered across a small side road to graze in “greener pastures” Talk about heart failure and a cardio workout! When I saw the pig chase that brought back memories!! I was felling for you. Enjoying watching your process of building a beautiful life. Again, I get total enjoyment watching your family and your friend Jill’s family living and creating the life God wants you to live. As I sit and wash n pick all kinds of fiber at the mill my day is blessed by your families. 🙏

It can be tricky with that... KZbin sometimes see that as content for "kids" and it can mess with monetization and regulations ... I don't know all the specifics... but I know it gets tricky when it's by kids for kids... vs a kid helping... on a general "adult theme video" if that makes sense

I like that lumber structure at the garden space near the house. Great idea for lights, but you could also put hanging baskets, hummingbird and bird feeders out there... just need to add a bird bath/bee waterer. 🙂 Wrangling pigs is hard. Lambs, I think, can also be difficult... just as you think you got 'em, they go SPROING sideways and get away from you. lol 🤣 Maddening and hilarious!

I went back and was watching some of your videos from 2018 and on your wall I saw a picture of a cow and it is the same one I own in my kitchen. So I wanted to share a funny story about it. - When I first brought the picture home, I asked my little boy if he liked my new picture and he looked at it with intent. Then he turned to me and said " I can't see the picture because the cow is in the way". Lol.

ROFL! Oh Jess that was so great! Flashbacks to my childhood, sitting on top the station wagon (35 years ago) watching my Mom carry a bucket of corn in the lead while my dad moved an ornery sow to the farrowing barn with a twine noose tied on her leg to keep control. I must have been about 10 years old and we kids would enjoy the show better than any movie! (Dad cussed, Mom ran, the pig made a ton of noise and never did what they wanted her to! One sow, named Brownie, used to somersault over in her farrowing crate and then use her snout to lift the pin in the gate and escape. Childhood trauma, and yet exciting ... running headlong into Brownie in the middle of the yard one day when i got of the school bus. :)

When you showed the storage container with all the feed suddenly I could smell it, we had a pig and goat, chickens, turkeys and a peony at one time when I was a kid and the memory of the smell of feed came back to me right at that moment. Hi Jess! I'm glad Miah and Jess didn't have to chase Clementine for very long. What a workout! You did good running with the camera and ready to help if needed. It was nice seeing the dry barns because you've mentioned them before. It seems like they will be good to use for your hay and straw. The "maternity ward" for Doris and Clementine looks really nice. Good job Miah and Poppa T! It's too bad your Dad and step mom had to leave so soon. I imagine they will have quite a bit to do before they move. I'm so glad your dad is cancer free! You're going to have a really big workshop from the looks of the area your dad worked on. How nice! I LOVE the hammock between the trees! It was fun watching Bear and Katie chasing you guys dragging the cattle/hog panels around. It's fun seeing things coming together for you. Thank you so much for sharing!

Just throwing this out there! Since you mentioned "drying lumber" possibly in the S-Container after it's initial use, keep an eye out for "bulk barns" for sale. In case, you find a tobacco farmer upgrading or getting out of the biz, because here in southeastern NC we can at times buy them for the going rate of "junk metal heading to recycle" $500 is on the high end of what I've seen in the past 10+ yrs. Now, I said this because the initial use for a bulk barn is for drying (with propane heat) tobacco. The advantage I'm thinking about is their built with all the "ventilation needs" already in place. The floors are similar if not the same as those in a grain bin/silo and open and close ventilation around the "eaves", I guess you would call it. Lol. I'm definitely not an expert, as you can tell, I just wanted to share something that might not be known and could possibly help anyone who reads this. 😇 I've seen them repurposed for drying different materials including making a kiln out of them. As well as, the use of storage for a wide range of things. Including storing and drying fire wood. Ok I'm going to shut up now, sorry about my long winded explanation. 😇❤ God bless.

My family showed pig when I was growing up. I used to have a picture of a mangalitsa on my wall because I thought they were so cool! We found that sorting panels were really helpful when moving hogs because they will stop if they can't see through to the other side. You can make your own out of plywood or buy plastic ones. They are super helpful

Have you ever thought about craving out a piece of your property for a grass runway when you start building your farm for teaching and a restaurant? Private pilots love to have fly in restaurants next to the landing strip. Pilots fly in from other states just to enjoy the experience. This would be a great hit and benefit for you.as well as them. It doesn’t need any lights or any extra expenses other than a flat surface to land on and room.. We fly from NC to SC and Va and would love to visit your place. I have recently found you on KZbin and thoroughly enjoyed watching you and your sweet family. I have very small raised bed garden and have been looking at videos for extra advice and suggestions. Blessings to you!

you bring lot of memorise for me and my husband we moved on our property in 1973 and no buildings on it. Cow ran as pasture and the rancher used the draw or hollar for dumping their trash. Now it looks like a farm that raised goats, chickens and now it hold . and instead of half of acre garden to raising my garden inn my front yard because the golfers have become so many of them . Even with trapping them as fast as we trap the faster they come back. . And becoming older it is easier to plant on flat land. Good luck in all of your projects.

Laughing watching Miah chase Clementine 😂 made me remember when we first brought Mia Hamm home. She fell into our stream (only 3 inches of water) and crossed onto a neighbor’s property (he hunts). We chased her home through the woods and brook straight into the barn to be sure she NEVER did that again. 12 years later she’s been excellent at staying on our property without fencing in wet sections. Only pig that doesn’t like mud probably, but prefers a baby pool. 💕 🐷

I was so bummed I got into gardening a little in the behind covid and did a few plants from the store. This year I was excited to do better so built some raised beds and bought $350 worth of what was supposed to be good garden soil from a local dirt company. It was horrible nothing would grow and most of what I planted in it didn’t germinate. I ended up buying a bunch of compost and manure mix and mixed it in and now they are growing great! It’s been such a learning experience.

Ok I'm exhausted watching Miah run back and forth jumping fences to chase the sow down lol. The life of a pig farmer. I hate when one gets loose. I commented on the last video I love his pig hits one thing he could add is a rod with about a 3 or 4 inch pvc pipe across the doorway when she goes in and out it rolls and her teats don't get scratched but the baby pigs can't get out until they are big enough to venture around because the pipe rolls. Also God is so good and prayer is powerful thankful Andy is up and cancer free. I definitely vote for Miah to do videos with his sharp wit and knowledge he will be great. Also his live for you and family is always clear and we need all the manly Godly role models we can get. I've been waiting for sawmill videos for a while lol. Keep up the good work and God bless you all. I bless you till next time

I believe you're right about the soil in your raised beds. From the looks of it, there's way to much material in it which is not broken down enough. The microorganisms in the soil are using the available nitrogen to further break the wood chips down and in turn robs your plants of it.
