This is how to train your ability to be mindfully aware of the present moment in order to achieve the flow state - the optimal state of mental focus for productivity, efficacy, and general success.
By improving our ability to flow, we will:
✨ perform better
✨ experience fewer distractions
✨ engage less in self-judgement
✨ feel more motivated
✨ work for longer
The list goes on…
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (who famously defined this magical state of mind) described the experience of flow as “a state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience is so enjoyable that people will continue to do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it.”
I’d love to hear how you get on with this process!

I've been boxing 11 years and coaching for 7, so I can relate to this deeply. I think fighting is a great example because it's a naturally tense situation to be in. I was an independent consultant for a few years. The need to land new jobs all the time got me anxious from time to time. I'm lucky to have a balcony overlooking a pond that attracts many birds. One of my favorite breaks was to go on the balcony and just watch the birds. Watch what they were doing, listen to all the different calls they make, and I can often feel a gentle breeze as well. After just doing that for 10-15 minutes I'm always so relaxed and my work is so much better. I'm only recently learning that meditation doesn't have to be sitting cross-legged with your fingers touching. It can be anything helps me be more present. Watching the birds really does that for me, and so does dancing. Now I take time to do both of those throughout the day. I'm gonna try this 9 things method! More variety never hurt!

Most excellent intersection! comment for the algorithm, but will probably delete as its a bit too trauma dumping sorry. Knowing that extra layer of your experience really helps. I used to enjoy martial arts (non competition), but i was in relationship for 13 years with a guy who did multiple martial arts and he eventually competed in mma. While he never ACTUALLY hit me, he constantly threatened me and made me be his grappling dummy. And emotional abuse. Really locked in my freeze, flight and fawn abd it wasnt safe for me to be fully present sometimes, so i think i did a far bit of dissociative coping and still havent fully reconnected with my body 10 years later. Have become so scared of job interviews and applications that havent worked in 2 years. Really hard to get into flow/being present, even with multiple techniques (my mum was a butekyo and multiple other modalities teacher). Now have onging chronic injury that makes it tricky to do the things that used to get me in flow - rpm, body combat, pump, dancing, hiking or sitting for long periods (to do art etc). Oh and informally adhd (inattentive). I dont usually play games (the mma ex was a non stop gamer and caused me many sleepless nights), but im tempted to try betwixt if its a non fighting game

Oh, thank you! 🤩 We only started filming properly a couple of months ago and have picked up basically all our subscribers in the last 4 weeks. Before, I was posting tiktoks here and I guess the algorithm knew because they just didn’t get seen. But anyway, thank you very much!!

Nice. What a trajectory from the boxing ring to this video! Had a mad stressful morning but found ways to get out of my head in response. It’s a great skill to practice.

I really love your videos! They relate more to my gf and I will share them with her, however I love the way you make data and research so easy to digest. Even things that don't directly apply to me are wonderful to learn, especially on this channel. Thanks for the content!

for me the question is not the good one, as far as we are parceling our life span. We'll be on the flow as soon as we get rid of our fears. For me the flow is a natural state that we get into once we understand the nature of reality. It is not something we can force. Force is the opposite of flow. Obviously, we can train that state in order to understand that there is something else beyond our "short reality"

@Betwixt, while I’m very pro-womxn, this is simply an old *anti-anxiety, nervous systems regulation, and mindfulness/focus exercise/practise.* Rather than appropriate, please *provide fair credit* where credit *is due.* You did *not* create this practice.

What a strange comment! I never heard her state, nor even imply at any point, that she was the creator of this technique-only that she began incorporating it into the coaching technique she used with the boxers she worked with. And how useful it is whether the stakes are high or not.
