Absolutely agree, Urposhta is where enthusiasm goes to die. Often staffed by true soviet potatoe shaped people,often old or old before their time . Behind them will be an armoire with plates in and random "things " for sale like in a 70s garage. There will be the inevitable pictures of the family and a potted soviet plant like a geranium or something vaguely tropical. Every service is delivered as an absolute favour and never,ever, with a smile. On the positive side, it is the happening place for soviet pensioners who are longing for the days of tasty ice cream and pointless queues. Nova poshta ,the mutts nutts ,I live in butt fk nowhere,the lass twigged I was english and switched flawlessly,I couldve kissed her,a little tear came to my eye,no one speaks english here ,except my mrs. Yes, I should speak Ukrainian,I wish it was that easy.

im fluent in 3 languages and never tried learn any of them, secret is just learn like 3 words a day, thats all, it wont stress you its easy and in month you know almost 100 amd that is already enough to start talking if they r common verbs and words.
@braveworld27072 ай бұрын
@@MostIntelligentMan Some of us don't have the ear for it. My daughter was repeating back morse code that I was trying to learn on her first hearing of it. I know written morse backwards but have trouble separating the sounds. I have tried to learn a different language but it just sounds like radio static to me and is all jumbled up. I desperately wanted to learn another language and some r-soles just soak the damn things up. 🤬
@theamazingbatboy2 ай бұрын
Trust me, if a retard like me can learn a foreign language, anyone can. It's simply tedious, frustrating and humiliating being talked to like a child-everyone will assume you're intellectually challenged but you just have to commit to it. Your biggest barrier to learning Ukrainian is most likely your English speaking wife (no offence intended, I'm sure she's lovely). When I emigrated to France with my wife we made a pact to only use our laughable pidgin French to one another in the house. We literally both had one of those mini pocket dictionaries from the olden days, sitting on the dining table, so when miming "pass the salt" didn't work I could at least look the word up. It was a huge pain, basically work, but the upshot was the whole world opening up to us as we gained confidence. After a few months I started dreaming in French. Like the previous commenter said-after you learn some basic grammar-you just have to learn a few essential words a day, which leads to a basic transactional level within a couple months. You'd be surprised how little vocabulary is used in ordinary conversation; the first words you learn are the most often used (the terms for 'DO' and 'THING' become your best friends). I'd bet there are a ton of Ukrainian words you already recognize, just through osmosis.

I remember those days when ukrposhta was an actual time machine to soviet times, were people used papers and computers, and it was fucking 5 years ago so todays version is actually a Modern version, that is trying to become a poor chinese copy of novaposhta and it's hardly failing P.S one thing that is very pointing is an age of workers: 20-25 years old vs 80 lvl Babushka(I VE BEEN WORKING HERE FOR 100 YEARS AND I OUTLIVED YOU ALL SO WAIT UNTIL I TAKE A TEA WITH PECHWNKAS AND THAN YOU CAN GET YOUR PARSEL)

I came to contact with Nova Poshta here in Czechia. Works great, thanks to them I got my Zhadan book and Kalinouski support patch. Also all this you said makes me think that communist heritage stays everywhere in the same place, since Česká Pošta (basically the Czech version of Ukrposhta) is a sick man dying in unimaginable agony for decades.

I had one, I repeat, ONE, experience with UkrPoshta and already at that, their customer service told me to come over to Lviv (I live in Germany and they knew it, they had the sender's address) to one of their UKRAINIAN branches (yes, from Germany) and pay a few Hrivnas for redirecting a letter, because sb gave me the wrong postal code and the thing had the code of the NEIGHBOURING Lviv district, just a few blocks away from the recipient's address. After some to and fro per e-mail, and getting the manager involved, they finally grudgingly delivered it (more like sent an SMS to the recipient to generously allow him to pick it up AT ALL), but it was lying in Lviv's central post office for over a month I think.
