I don't think people who recommend Pyrion to watch a particular anime appreciate that they're essentially asking him to like a thing that they like rather than actually trying to think of something Pyrion himself would like. Also it's not really a surprise he thinks all anime are the same when all he's been exposed to is the same genre (with the exception of the Ghibli films).

Lewis only ever recommends some of the worst things to recommend him! I like anime but I agree with Pyrion in that the most popular things people keep constantly recommending him often are all the same cliche stuff (which often are not nearly as good as people claim they are).

Yeah like, all the really popular Anime's are usually Shonen, which is marketed towards kids to teens, so like the 8-18 year old range or something like that. So it's no surprise that someone like Pyrion doesn't like it. It's like going up to Pyrion and saying "You should play League, it's really fun and good and you'll enjoy it" and then be surprised that he doesn't enjoy it. Yes League is popular, way more popular than Dota, but that's because it's simpler, easier, more appealing to a casual audience, where outplaying your opponent means pressing buttons better. Meanwhile Dota is a more complex game with loads of tiny little quirks and details with more punishing and limited movement, where outplaying in Dota is to simply not stand in a stupid place at a bad time. In any case, Pyrion will probably enjoy Animes like Vinland Saga or Claymore a Gundam show perhaps. Maybe A Silent Voice for a Movie? And he should definitely give Berserk a read or a lookthough, although it might be a bit too gritty for him. But yeah, no more Shonen for Pyrion.

On the Pyrion anime debate... I'm torn. Most people are going about it wrong, and should be backtracing his habits in viewing other media to recommending shows to him in the first place, not rooting through the haystack for needles guessing at it. The man has a lifetime of preference for visual media to work with, use THAT. Don't just recommend popular tripe out of nowhere, especially if he already doesn't like stuff in the general genre. On the other hand, *accept the man just doesn't like it* and leave him the feck alone already. It's okay for people to not like things. It's also okay for people to not really be aware of why they REALLY dislike things, because they don't care to deep analyze or think about it. He's not interested, and he's allowed to be. It's no great feckin' crime if he don't, get off his nuts over it! I love shooters, I hate Battle Royale or Arena-type shooters. My mates accept stuff like R6 Siege, Counterstrike, Apex, Fortnite, et. all just aren't my jam and respect it. We get on great. So many damn people take people not liking the same stuff they do as a personal damn offense and go off on a bloody crusade over it. Get the hell over it!

I'm convinced that if pyrion is going to like an anime then it's going to be some slice of life -ish cute thing that isn't too intensely anime. Maybe Spy x Family? I could see him at least liking *parts* of it. The first half of Ancient Magus Bride? IIRC the first half is pretty reasonable. (and beautifully animated) Inferno Cop and Hellsing Ultimate? Just because I want him to make fun of them. Also I feel like I'm not matching the description I gave very well but I'm drawing blank.

Pyrion needs to have people recommend anime that is actually grounded and serious. I think he'd have a higher chance of liking something like 91 days cause it's basically a mafia show in the medium of anime. Or maybe a more serious sci-fi like Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Though without him naming any of the tropes that he specifically dislikes I still can't say if he'd actually like them. It just sounds like people are trying yo recommend shows for teenagers and 20 year olds to a guy in his 40s.

I feel like in the same way that those movie tropes, pyrion hates and I do aswell, are just a part of western culture and the stories it tells, Anime has different tropes because its a different culture and as with the western tropes they hit different when you fully understand the audience and culture it is made for. That is not to say that its wrong to dislike them or like them its just an observation/critque of media that I myself have spent a lot of time thinking about. watching some of my favorite anime with a japanese person gave me a different level of appreciation for the tropes and jokes that go completely over my head as an entirely western perspective consumer. Showing me that most Dubbed anime doesnt do justice to the original jokes at all. That without a deeper understanding of japanese culture and japanese as a language many characters, jokes, b plots, and story arcs are just lost on a viewer

Half the reason Pyrion hates anime is because when he mentions he doesn't like it, people teleport to his location and start cramming recommendations down his throat and trying to convert him instead of just letting the guy be and if he comes to it let him do it on his own. Its as if one person doesn't like anime, it delegitimizes it for everyone else which is lol.

I would recommend Monster and Golden Kamuy as two anime that are really good, really different (from most more popular anime and each other), and free from the vast majority of the tropes that Pyrion is probably describing. I know what he's on about though, with many anime I have to endure the tropes and pandering to enjoy the rest of the show.

Once in a while Dota will add another hero in some updates. Hoodwink is a year and a half or so old. So she's a relatively newly added hero to the game. Dawnbreaker and Primal Beast are also new heroes being a little newer than Hoodwink.

Sure there are a lot of similar anime, but Pyrion saying he doesn't think anime is super varied and all have similar tropes is wild to me. That's like saying Dragon Ball is similar to Monster, that Rainbow is like Gintama or kaguya-sama is the same as Mushishi and I could go on but there's no point since Pyrion hasn't seen any of them. It sounds like he believes anime is only shounen action which I get since if you don't watch anime they're often the only ones you're exposed to, but even within this one genre it's like saying Ousama Ranking is the same as Chainsaw Man. It just doesn't make sense to me but maybe the video would clear things up since it's not like you can give the full argument off the top of your head in a dota video.

Any character can technically be any position but generally a character's abilities will fit best into one or two roles. Medusa in this game was position 2 (Meaning mid lane and second highest "farm priority") because she has split shot which allows her basic attacks to hit multiple targets. This is really powerful but you need expensive items and levels/talents to make it work so she is in the safe lane or mid (bottom is safer for radiant, top is safer for dire) The characters you put in more supporting roles are more effective with just their spells, so they don't need as many items to be effective.

Echoing the comments that people need to stop recommending Pyrion all the popular Shounen anime, it's also a genre that I avoid due to how tropey and kid-friendly it gets. Though one shounen I actually do count among my favourties is FMA, I feel like it has a more mature tone and plot than a lot of them. This is all moot though because I actually don't watch anime - I exclusively read manga though nowadays it's majority manhwa. I feel like if you read the manga you get all the good stuff of a story without all the most annoying anime-specific tropes. Or at least any tropes aren't nearly as grating in written form because you can easily skim past the particularly egregious bits.

I really dislike when people try to argue that "Saying you hate anime is like saying you hate books, or all movies". No it's not. I get that there are plenty of different anime's, but some people just aren't into that. There are 'tropes' that happen in a large percentage of anime that can be frustrating for people, and some people just don't like the Japanese cartoon style, the way most are written, the voice acting, etc. It's okay for someone to not like the same stuff as you. Man doesn't like anime, and that is fine!

I think the problem is it always lacks a certain element to story telling, a cartoonish main character needs to be handled very specifically to be reasonable. Whereas anime just goes to an extremity and stays there, with character development being a very rare thing, and if it exists at all it is explained relentlessly to the viewer. ‘See, this character changed because so and so.’ It doesnt let the viewer think for themselves.

Anime tends to be rather polarizing, you either like it, or you hate it. But to be fair to Pyrion, I heard so many things about One Punch Man and Jojo's and didn't find either funny. I did however enjoy the existential crisis that Saitama goes through with his purpose in life trying to find something exhilarating, that I can relate to. Some things work and some things don't. I just try to leave both sides alone and enjoy what I enjoy.

I think I kinda get Pyrion - same reason I can't stand Hollywood movies. 90% of them have the same boring annoying tropes, which for me suck out any sort of enjoyment out of watching them, and even though I like anime I admit that it has it's tropes as well, it's just that I personally find those more tolerable. What Pyrion needs is not a "good anime" but a "non-trope" anime. Just like people would say that Marvel movies are good movies, but that doesn't mean that they are devoid of tropes, same with Cowboy Bebop and such - most people would find them fun, but they do have a lot of cliches. I would argue that something like Paranoia Agent might be less formulaic than most anime, maybe that's a good one for someone like Pyrion. Still, if we go back to movies, I'm not saying that I hate all cinema - just that if a lot of people recommend a certain picture there's near 0 chance I'd actually get a lot out of it. So saying that you hate all anime - not necessarily justified, but saying that you will almost certainly not enjoy a popular or highly recommended show - that's fair

Zylus build isnt necessarily bad. He just isnt good enough to pull it off. What you are supposed to do is throw out all your remnants too blow up one target, and refresher to do it again. Ember also got changed recently where it now takes longer to throw out his remnants. This is basically a pro mid Ember build and Zylus is not a pro ember. Imo he should have gone Desolator before Aghs. Then into maybe Scythe of Vyse or Gleipnir. Desolator gives a lot of damage and would also amp his teams damage on whoever he hit. Deso does also stack with orb of corrosion but not Blightstone. Boots > Maelstrom > Deso/BKB > (The other one) > (Survivability Item) > Critstick/Gleipnir is what he should have gone. Edit: Linkens is normally great on ember but wouldn't have been great this game. Orchid/Bloodthorne would have been good.

Just wanna say to pyrion that i share his anime sentiments. it weirds me out. regardless, i watched one punch man and actually really found it enjoyable. in a way the entire thing is a satire on other animes as well as western cliches. after watching episode one, i did not really want to continue watching, but a friend encouraged me to give it a fair chance. After 2 or 3 episodes it really grew on me and i now follow releases closely to this day. i think its personal preference and there can be ones out there for everyone. i felt exactly the same about the other animes, attack on titan, jojo, bebop, not for me at all, but i do encourage you to maybe give one punch man a more fair chance, if you make episode 3 and really hate it then fair enough, but it does require a little bit of story setup to get interesting, episode one does little but setup the universe and establish a main character with a backstory. as i said, all people have different preferences and i really do believe if you had the right subject matter/delivery it could interest anyone unless its truly the style of animation that displeases you. hope this comment finds you well, sincerely a long time viewer with an exceptionably tiny penis

Anime absolutely does have tropes, in my opinion it is a cultural thing more than anything. American movies have tropes as well, altough much more varied, because America was and is a cultural melting pot. You will find some of those same things anime have in many live action Japanese movies as well, but anime in general usually is even more exaggerated, maybe because Japanese culture being repressed is more the norm, so it overcompensates in anime (do take this all with salt as it is just an uneducated opinion). Hence Pyrion not liking anime is totally fair and he is absolutely right about them being samey when it comes to certain tropes (Lewis's recommendation Death Note very much included) , him saying anime is dogshit will always bother me tho, because there are great works there even if you can't stand them and it is disrespectful, nothing is for everyone. I understand fanboys hauling you is annoying, so still gets a pass for it in my book. Gimli studios is just something else, I would say it is almost like Tarantino films being their own thing. Also I love anime.
