That tank is not on the beach....it is located next to the road above the cliffs....

I'd say it is a modern anti tank weapon that did this ,a lot of sherman tanks were used for target practice after the war

No!! The armour, where the holes are, is 38mm. with additional 38mm. patches The 20mm. Solothurn anti-tank rifle could only penetrate up to 34mm. at under 100 metres, if square on. These are 88mm. Pzgr.39 APCBC-HE hits. The Germans used the additional armoured patches as aiming points, knowing that ammunition (75mm. shells) bins were located immediately behind them. The crew of this Sherman would have been killed before they realised they were dead, because of the instantaneous ammunition explosion, as can be witnessed by the twisted metal & carnage inside the tank.

@@CZ350tuner Or they were killed by spalling, two penetrating hits. Likely no survivors to bail out. Probably would have brewed up up and burned quickly. Could have been a PaK, but more likely as the OP says 88mm from a FLaK 41 gun emplacement.
