I own an eiswand too, I had the same noise as yours, turns out it was the fan hitting the dust filter. I removed the dust filter came with eiswand replace it with 3*120 magnetic dust filter that can be easily removed and clean from the outside, that solved my noise problem. And I also got an adapter power for the eiswand, now I can change the voltage between 5V and 12V with ease. But have to say, your new solution is insanely good, I might try the same way but with 1080 radiator.

I may have to look into your solutions as I own an eiswand too I just used some tweezers to pull the dust filter away from the fan as that's what's causing the noise. They should at least shave the filters so they're flat on the back.

I made a switch using a relay that turns on the power to an external radiator when the PC comes on using USB and a bios setting that only turns on USB power when the PC is on. It's also got a power switch so I can turn it on manually if desired (in case the USB switch failed). I also used an EK D-Bay (with EK D5 pump), so it included the res and pump inside the enclosure. Lastly, I was able to power the entire thing using a 12V 5A power brick with no need for a full power supply.

I am glad this video was recommended to me to be honest. Your video just gave me an amazing idea that i will use for my personal use case scenario. I thank you for turning a full airflow FAN crazed maniac to the water loop that i was asking about but had no answers to! I am worried about the risks that come with a water cooling loop , but if you can get some really good sleeved tubing like the ones found in AIO`s and some good fittings. I believe you can create a really robust water cooling loop. Now you just need to add a card like the Galax Hall of Fame card or Asus Matrix ? No more like an EVGA water cooled one and just put it into the loop on the 560mm. rad. (My idea is to have a GPU with the water cooling integrated and fans on it as well :D) Can you please make a follow up video on what kind of temps you get when you add a CPU to the loop ?

You did put the reservoir in the opposite direction. The little tube inside has to be looking up so it can be purged. The air bubbles NEED to go up not enter again into the circuit. So 1 hole only has to be up to open/close the air and the other 3 have to enter/exit the liquid. Also I couldnt see it in the video but the radiator holes have to be down so the air bubbles formed accumulate in the upper part too and dont enter again in the loop.
@UltrawideBenchmarks

Just another thought, maybe you can use one of the reservoirs that can be installed in an optical drive bracket like alphacool Eisfach. And add an optical drive bay module on the top of your radiator case. This way you can hide almost all the tubes, reservoirs and pump inside the case.

I'm also doing this when I found out about external radiator mounts. Currently cooling a r7 3700x w/ 2 nvme m.2 gen 3 in a loop w/ 2x 360mm 30mm radiator. Even my case is a full tower it only can only mount 1x 360mm 1x 240mm and 1x 120mm. Note: 2x 360mm top and front will have a angle fitting clearance issue so I only used 240mm. Going to add another 360mm for GPU as separate loop. Still going to use acrylic tube but I'm adding a soft tube w/ quick disconnect on the rear pci-e slot of the case for modularity and maintenance cleaning/troubleshooting.. it will hard to move a tower system with a external radiator if it's not removable via quick disconnect fitting (so it's a hard tube build with just a lil bit of soft tube for modularity)

Very nice. The only three things I would have done differently are: 1. Use Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 for maximum pressure and airflow 2. Use a 60mm thicc radiator for maximum cooling capacity at a given length (4x140mm in this case) 3. Use a dual 5.25" bay res instead of an external res. It'd make for cleaner tubing runs (in my opinion) and make pumps internal as many dual 5.25" bay reses can accomodate two pumps, though I can understand using a external res would make refills easier. Still, a very cool way to DIY a external open loop!

13:17 totally agree. When building my new PC I wanted to go all out. Dual 560s!! The only case I found was TT's The Tower, but it was a stupid design that has the rads in a second area that left NO airflow over the motherboard.
@fredfinks
@fredfinks 4 жыл бұрын
im in the thought process of building my own case to support 2x 560s (The option in the video is still a 'case', just you have second one). My design would house the rads horizontally at the top, intake only driven by the rad fans, the cold air having to pass over the mobo & pump area. My goal is silence. Unsure of fan configuration - should i decouple them? Have them as pull? Ive even looked at large ducted fans. I think the design of the radiator case he has is great - fans decoupled. But he has push pull and that would mean 16 fans - too many. The case shouldn't be too hard to build. Out of wood with the carcass of a fractal case for mobo tray, i/o and other parts incorporated. Would sit under the desk. would be about 35cm wide, 65cm high. 65-70 deep. What do you think about fan configs?
@garavonhoiwkenzoiber
@garavonhoiwkenzoiber 4 жыл бұрын
@@fredfinks If quietness is your goal, not outright performance I'd avoid push/pull. Check out the Thermaltake WP100. It can do 3 560mm rads, and if you're insane there's the WP200 which can do something like 6 560mm rads
@fredfinks
@fredfinks 4 жыл бұрын
@@garavonhoiwkenzoiber Ive checked it out, unfortunately thermaltake quality control is very poor. The metal is thin and i wouldnt be able to dampen sound like i could with a custom case. Also, the layout isnt what i want. Custome - exactly - what you want. What im unsure about is optimal layout of fans for silence. In either push or pull, push give better cooling but i think decoupling fans from radiator might be quieter , however i think it wouldnt work well pushing in that scenario. (a turbulent mix of air being pushed around back n forth before it finds its way into the radiator fins.) Pulling, the air would just be drawn through fins. Radiator sealed around so no gaps between them and case walls. Radiator a few inches lower than fans. so this fairly slow but large volume of air moving from filtered intake near bottom , over mobo area - through rads and out the top. Thign is 8x 140mm fans! even at slow i imagine id hear some noise

Thanks for an interesting video. Though I have a question. in Your explanation of the "flow" You seem to indicate that You are using the "Top" of the reservoir as the "exit port" going in to the Radiator?? Is that really how You have it set up, if so why ?? I ask as this to my knowledge is an "unorthodox" set up, and it seems to have the obvious risk of introducing air bubles into the loop. And also, did Your "AlphaCool Eiswald" make that "noise" already as new, or is it something that has "developed" with "age" ? I ask because to my ears it sounds like something in it is "unwell" and I would't expect a new unit to soud like that. Best regards.

The only thing that seemed odd (in a nitpicky way) was the empty space in the 5.25" bay for the fan controller. I wonder if there's a shim/caddy you could buy/print to fill the void.

You could ask the guy who man this for me do find a solution for this :) this radiator could definitely cool a cpu + gpu. The whole thing still runs great and imo its the best way to save cost for future builds as well as keep your components safe. A 360 radiator would be more than enough if you would like to cool your pc

@@UltrawideBenchmarks Hahah, if I order one I'd definitely ask. It just reminded me of installing a head unit in a car and forgetting to purchase a conversion kit. Would definitely come down to cost which route I go, so I'd be curious if you could divulge the approx cost for this new solution (excluding internal PC loop components). I also meant to mention that you could probably streamline the power situation, by hooking it up directly to your PC's power switch. Another cool option would be an IFTTT/node-red solution that turns it on based on the PC's ping status / GPU temp / etc. Would be cool to automate the fan controller based on current temps as well.

@@LesterCovax these are good ideas, the problem is that the radiator stand is a bit far from my PC and thats why I went with a power switch. The case costs around 180 dollars without shipping, the rest of the cost goes to which radiator, fans, reservoir, fittings, etc.. you'd go with. You could customize everything based on your budget. The 360 version might be cheaper since its going to be smaller

I really like your channel bro please make more video's like this. I was hoping to see the GPU waterblock up close. But the CPU is watercooled on a different radiator am I right? BTW is it wise to do a comparison /w your CPU watercooling against 560 Radiator? I see the CPU is already cooled separate. But what if you do this the same like you did with the GPU on 560 radiator.. Will it also be very low temps like below 30-40C ? Please do a video testing on your current CPU temps. Then make a custom radiator 560 on CPU and which temps is better. I believe this method is by far the best ultimate watercooling solution for low temps under load.

My room is 20c, i have a Gigabyte Xtreme 980ti that i've put 2 140mm Notcua industrial 3,000rpm fans on. temps under most loads are between 38-44C, most ive seen in synthetics and BL3 maxed with unlocked framerate is 48c. definitely good for an air cooled card ;)
