Holey moley..that half silver hammered would make a beautiful pendant wrapped in silver or gold so as not to ruin the coin. Always thrilled to watch and learn from your videos. Am going to share your link to all my hunting buddies.

Hi Rae, Thanks for watching and commenting. I have to admit, my favourite was the silver Roman Denarius of Faustina. She died in 141 AD and her husband love her so much he had the coins made in her memory. Ahhh, a brutal period in our history but love still shines through! And YES! I would really appreciate you sharing my efforts. Some KZbin seem to put utter garbage online and grow fast... I'm slowly accelerating... but I am gaining watchers with my style of video so I'm pleased with that.

Brilliant video, I really like how you give background info on the finds!
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS5 жыл бұрын
Well thanks for that comment shooter. It just seems natural that info should be given out on finds... if people know what the item is, that's fine, but many don't know or are incorrect in their assumptions so it's good to pass on the correct information.

Cracking deni , well done . Another top video matey . I personally don’t like my silvers cleaned as much as yours , but each to their own . Already looking forward to your next video
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS6 жыл бұрын
Hi Graham, thanks for the comments and glad you like the video's.Yes the Denarius is spot on and all I cleaned that with was warm water and a wooden toothpick to take off the crusty bits... It came out gleaming when it was dried off (so must have a high silver content and not debased like a lot of silver Denarii are). So far as the other silver coins, in my defense in the last few months I started to use a "Light Box" to photograph my finds. This is an all round and very bright pure white light which, I agree does give the impression of being over cleaned, but if you look at the Commonwealth Halfgroat in this video at 5 mins.25. that gives a better idea of what the coins actually look like after a gentle clean. Light is such a fickle thing when taking photos, (it is for me anyway lol). All the best and thanks for the support and comments.

Ahh yes, it will be the light box . I remember 20 years ago showing a hammered to my apprentice at work, it was half blackened , he asked if he could clean it so I said go on then give it scrub, It came back shining like new from the mint lol, he’s ran a brass wire wheel over it ! Haha

I might try and tone the light down somehow, but its the bright light that gives the crisp sharp image too lol... can't win either way lol.

Hello Hopeus Maximus , I see you have a XP deus and I have a few metal detecting friends that use the XP deus . I notice that you never mention any numbers that the the XP deus gives, you seem just to go by the sound it gives. I don't use a XP deus I use a Minelab E-Trac and if I didn't go by numbers I just would be digging to many bits of rubbish. So do you go by numbers and just don't mention them in the video's or do you just go purely by sound?. by the way I have watched all your videos and they are very well put together, it must take a lot of time and effort to do it for us lot. so thanks for the videos and looking forward for the next one....
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS6 жыл бұрын
Hi SB, Thanks for the comments. Yes, your right, I never normally mention numbers, (except I did in the video where I found the gold rams head brooch. That was at the 9 mins 12 secs mark... on Video 1 of 2017 "XP DEUS with HOPEUS MAXIMUS - UK Metal Detecting - Solid Gold Ram's Head Brooch"). The reason is this. Firstly the numbers will be different if other Deus users are using a different programme than I am. (as proven in the video section I mention as I changed from the "Hot" to the "Basic 2" programmes. Secondly, there are a range of different coils that can be fitted to the Deus and these will give different numbers. Thirdly and MOST importantly, the Deus is the kind of machine where the audio is king and once you are attuned to the audio signals you're on a winner. Fourthly, It's a common thing to come across a very deep, or a very small target, that may result in no numbers even registering, but does give out an audio signal. I have had many great finds when no numbers register at all, but the sound whispers "dig me, dig me" lol. Fifth, As well as going off the audio I always use the "Hot" programme and that has an X/Y trace screen. On this screen iron is a low grunt and traces bottom right to top left on the screen so that is a defo "No Dig"... Non ferrous/high conducting targets trace from bottom left to top right and are a much sweeter higher pitched sound. The end result is 90% of my detecting is purely by the pitch of the audio signal and if I'm not sure I check the X/Y trace to confirm my decision on dig/no dig. So 90% audio and 10% X/Y trace to help me decide. I hope this makes sense.

Are your seeds slug pellets?.
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS6 жыл бұрын
No, it's the seeds the farmer sows for his crops. Different crops have different coloured seeds depending on what treatment the seeds have had. Disease protection etc.
