That's what I was going to mention but I see someone already have😂 This is one step behind Quinetic switch. And btw you should invest in it James as you only need it connected to the power on one side as the RF signal is generated by kinetic energy from the press.

Quinetic requires a press from a human though .....this system can be activated by voltage from a boiler or a valve

Thanks for the heads up about this product and demonstrating its potential, yes there maybe other options out there but everything has its limitations and it is always good to know if there is a possible alternative solution you might need to resolve this type of problem. I know you said it's not plumbing but to be honest electrics and plumbing go hand in hand nowadays don't they? Showers, fancy expensive toilets, bidets, taps, boilers, circulators, water heaters, programmers etc etc. Great videos James, keep them coming. 👍

Similar exists but they're industrial-ish 12v/24v remote relays, requiring a lot of extra thinkthonk, so these being simply 220v saves a lot of headaches.

Good intro this this product matey, like others are going to say or have said, and as I was thinking, you could use much cheaper wifi/internet solutions. Thing is, do I want to depend on the internet connection always working, or the router/device having a hissy fit? Yeah planning in advance would mean you don't need this, but for retro's it could solve a lot of problems unless you wanna be a cable monkey.

So that means you need to install a fuse spur at the pump if you dont already have on there?

Which makes it non compliant from a sparkies point of view for EICR purposes. 2 or perhaps more sources of supply and isolation for 1 circuit. Nice idea but lets get the cable out shall we or pay the electrician to do it. That will also save the agg when the transmitter packs up. Just do it properly innit!

You still do need power to the " lightbulb" so there will be a cable in the shed for instance... Just get a WiFi light bulb?... I don't get it to be honest.

I was thinking that. I think the good thing is that wifi (device connection to the router) and the internet connection itself isn't overall reliable. This just needs reliable power - of course I want someone else to test this and see other installs before I use it!

@@TheTHORNICROFT technically no. BUT, with most heating systems having some form of smart control you can use home assistant (if there's an add-on) to trigger anything based on an input. I use zigbee and a wiser system so no wifi, except the hub to router connection. Triggers fans, blinds, checks if windows are open, room temperature, what the sun is doing before heating certain rooms which don't need heat and most importantly, if someones home - There is no cloud, my home is the cloud.

Big garden , outbuildings or big house , the wifi might not reach . I ended up putting in a mesh system to cover everywhere .

If your light is at the bottom of the garden you will still have to have a live feed running to that anyway so I don't see how it's saving you running cables in that instance, you're just switching it on from distance which you could rig up hard wired in any case.
