I was actually rooting for Alexander and Eliza but purely because of Eliza. She deserves to have her love reciprocated and to be treated with the same love she gives Alexander. She's such an amazing woman so i was rooting for them to fix their relationship and for Alexander to change for Eliza and the kids, but the moment Alexander changed and realized his mistakes he died wtf at least let them be happy 😭

Ryan is so valid for shipping Alexander and Angelica (from the POV of the musical I’m not talking about historical accuracy) Eliza was just a perfect house wife for him but I think Angelica would’ve been such a better intellectual match for him not that Eliza wasn’t intelligent she just wanted to find love whereas Angelica wanted to see change in the country same as Alexander I think if she stayed in America and her and Alexander fought for these things together they could’ve done so much

I do wonder what they would have accomplished together. But at the same time, Eliza is basically the reason we know of him as much as we do, not to mention all the other things she did and the other people she recognized. Alexander and Angelica easily could have just burnt each other out. Eliza was the stable force that Alexander needed to keep coherent, after a life of instability. Consider what a hot-head he was. It's shocking he didn't die during a duel much earlier. Or just work himself to death. She was the reason he was the man he became, even though it seemed like she was in the background. Also, historically, I'm pretty sure Angelica was already married when they all met.

Personal theory no one asked for: simple envy. It's clear Aaron and Ryan both get typecast as the sometimes sweet, sometimes broody heartthrob (both JD and Christian were even originated as roles by the same person, on the West End), and Aaron has been in the business longer and, to this day, gets more recognition for it in the Broadway community. I'm also guilty of this when it comes to certain famous/local musicians, being one myself, so I wouldn't blame Ryan too much for it, but I feel that at some point game should recognize game. I see their point about him being a little too sexy for certain roles tho, Gabe from N2N comes to mind.

I am personally a huge Kristanna lover! Kristoff: a guy who doesn’t show his emotions too much and often pushes his more vulnerable emotions away. Anna who isn’t scared to show her emotions and would do anything for those she cares for. They’re perfect because of the lack of type of love and nurturing they both needed growing up. Yes, Kristoff’s troll family was supportive and loving but he didn’t have humans to bond with, and so he was left with a little bit of an attitude towards most people. Anna was shut away all her life and the only thing she desperately wanted was human connection. I don’t know, their stories crossing were meant to be and i just love their characters together.

Yes! Emmett and Elle are so great and that show doesn't get nearly enough love! The only change I would make would be putting Alexander and Eliza in rooting for you or possibly power duet. Their reconciliation is just so beautifully done that it wins me back over.

I think a funny tier list would be ranking trendy things people do in LA that aren't as common other places. Examples: eating avocado toast or green juice, going to the super popular restaurants like Nobu, the casual stance on cosmetic procedures/the pressure of appearance, the nightlife scene, looking for photo ops everywhere you go, always going to "events", etc.

First: I absolutely LOVE the theatre tier list videos, they're awesome! Second: I definitely agree with the choices you guys made, but I also had the Falsettos couples in the back of my mid the entire time 🤣 Anyone thinking of other couples? And yes, I am aware that it doesn't encompass all of theatre before anyone says anything. Not a complaint, just genuine curiosity of what everyone else thought.

the issue with eliza/hamilton is that their relationship is based on a true story, set in a time period where Eliza was just trying to do right by her children, and so it's not really asking us to root for them at all, it's just trying to present every aspect of their relationship and each of their personal and shared traumas. It doesn't quite fit with the other couples because it wasn't scripted by someone in that way :)

the musical is based on the film and also the character of Christian he is a romantic, creative, a gifted writer and extremely emotional just like in the Broadway musical. The duke is actually the antagonist in the musical and also in the film

honestly i wasnt a big fan of anna and kristoff in the movies, but the musical changed my opinion. i love how they start off butting heads, and what do you know about love is so good. and then kristoff's lullaby really sold it for me

The ONE thing I will say about JD is that I did lose my brother when I was a teenager and I can definitely sympathize. OBVIOUSLY I am not supporting homocide and all the other shitty stuff he does. But he does lose the only stable person in his life and then finally finds someone else namely Veronica to trust and that can form some attachment issues (obviously with JD it's really exaggerated) that's it

Definitely. I checked out a few pre-audition description things (idk what they're called) where it's a description of the character and the vocal abilities the hypothetical actor has to have, yeah, JD always has "attractive" or similar adjectives im his description.

This may need to be made into 2 parts, but can we get a tier list of musicals that are adaptations of movies that we love so much? With the ranking list being (hypothetically): Leave It Alone (an adaptation that should not have happened), Missed the Point (they definitely put in a valiant effort and it has similar elements, but it didn't quite hit the mark), Different But I Like It (pretty self explanatory; doesn't give the same feelings as the film did but it's still enjoyable), Impressive (probably went in with low expectations but were very surprised and impressed and overall did a pretty good job), and Standing Ovation (self explanatory). With musicals like Beetlejuice, Legally Blonde, Heathers, Mary Poppins, Shrek, Mean Girls, etc.

the duke in the film wanted to kill Christian in the movie but not in the musical. the duke storms off out of the cabaret as the couple complete their song. The Duke walks away from the Moulin Rouge finally when Christian and Satine defy him and do their ending.
