I think Rian falls in love with Deet, partly because she's the first Gelfling to show compassion to him when he's banished, but also because she has similarities to his first love and late girlfriend, Mira. Though at first glance they seem very different with Mira being a headstrong warrior and Deet being a gentle Grotten Gelfling, but they have more similarities than you realise. Both are kind, brave Gelfling women with adventurous spirits. Plus, they both love to tease and flirt with Rian. While Deet can never replace Mira, I do believe that Rian finds comfort in Deet over his heartbreak and allows himself to love someone again and hopes that she loves him too, which I can tell she does even if her fear of the Darkening hurting him holds her back. I hope somehow Rian can free Deet from the Darkening and the two will confess their love. I know from the film it won't be a happy ending for the Gelflings 😔. Still, I do hope that Rian and Deet will at least be together in their last moments. I do wonder if they'll be the parents of either Jen or Kira. Character-wise, I think Kira could potentially be their child as she can communicate with animals like Deet (though the Podlings taught her this) and has Rian's fiery spirit, but Deet and Kira's visions suggest that Brea could potentially be Kira's mother. Looks wise, Jen looks like Rian, but he also looks like Kylon and shares his balevolant character and musical talent (not to mention the same flute). Jen also has a similar intelligence to Brea, though it seems that she has a mutual romantic attraction to Rek'yr at the moment. So it suggests they could potentially become a couple. I guess we'll learn of Jen and Kira's parentage in later season's. I guess I need to be open for surprises.

It shows that while he cares for Brea as a friend and loves her with brotherly affection, he's falling in love with the sweet Deet.

The scene when the sanctuary tree gave his powers to Deet, she had a vision of the future. If you watched the dark crystal movie, Kira and Jen dreamfasted and Kira showed him her mother put her into a tree and the monster took Kira's mother. That's the vision Deet had, could she be Kira's mother? or could it be someone else?

Annalise Smith I believe that Kira could be either Deet’s daughter because of her gift with animals...her gentle voice is even similar or she could be Brea’s since her face shape looks a lot like her Aunt’s .but who knows

Kira's parents are Deet and Rian Jen's parents are the green hair girl and and dark haired gelfling in my opinion.

jen is stone wood and i know this because he has a stripe on his forehead like all stone wood, plus jen looks exactly like rian they HAVE to be related. Kira's mother must be brea because of the drramfasting in the movie and deets vision in the show

Kylan is from both Clans his father was a StoneWood and his mother was a Spriton Kylan was raised outside Sammi Thicket where the Hunter killed his parents and he was adopted by Maudra Mera who taught him his craft of Song Telling! I think Jen is his son because he’s got the same firca and he’s named after his father’s hero Jerra Jen! Even though Jen wears the StoneWood symbol on his clothes, his meek and humble attitude leads me to think that Kylan is the father! And Rian is Kira’s father
