I am from Zagreb, lived in Naples for about 14 years. Anyway, I would be stared at also cause in the small towns they all know each other. If you live in Zagreb, nobody looks at you, I basically barely know my neighbors and nobody cares what other people do. In Italy I was stared at all the time cause we lived in a small town about 20km from Naples. The biggest difference is-I felt so unsafe in Italy, everywhere. Only when I returned, I realized how safe Croatia is, even Zagreb.

I have walked your walk many times, B is a funny old place, was and still is the administrative centre for the district, used to be majority serb. I had lunch there just after the war. Place was full of soldiers but lunch was hearty and good. The departure of the native serb population has left an almost ghostly air to the place that pervades still. Personaly I love the place, it has atmosphere, history and the great sajam.

The Serbs can only blame themselves, they should have stayed in Croatia and supported it's independence there would never have been any issues. I guess now whats done is done and we need to move on and I have no issues with Serbs coming back home

B is defo a love hate relationship sometimes! 😂 From what I’ve heard it’s now mainly inhabited by Croats from Bosnia. Which even native Croats have a problem with. Everyone just hates everyone 😆 crazy balkans

@@powderskier5547 I guess in war situation you never know what the best decision is to make. Would the Croatian-Serbs who fight be guaranteed safety even if they sided with the Croats or would they be accepted still? I’m unsure on this one. Unfortunately everyone gets tarred with the same brush and as you say we just have to accept and try and move on the best we can on both sides.

from what I understand the local serbs were sold a pup by Milosovic, yes there was animosity but again that was stoked by the 'party' which the more die hard croats would not join and were thus barred from senior positions, all very tragic and stupid. We are the same people. same language same culture pray to the same God... any differences were amplified by political and external forces. Serbs don't have a problem from what I gather nowadays in dalmacija. As always the balkans have been kept balkanised by external powers over the centuries. @@Dusan.Grujic

Smoking everywhere gets me. There’s plenty of smoking in cafes all over. Sadly it’s more physically difficult since it brings on asthma… but one woman I met was baffled why I don’t just go to the doctor and get drugs so that I can sit with smokers inside. Another fun memory around 21/22 was going for a coffee and in walks a pregnant lady who sits down lights up and proceeds to drink her alcohol. PS I’ve lived around the world and cultures, but that definitely was a shocker!

I totally feel you with what you said about the starring. In summer I always visit my father in law in Sinj and that’s central Dalmatia. People always stare at you (us). At the supermarkt, the petrol station, the Pekera. I used to find very odd, but now I don’t give a f*** anymore. But still It doesn’t give you a warm welcome feel if you know what I mean. Enjoyed this vlog again. Pozdrav 👋🏻

As a Croatian living in the USA (moved to USA 5 years ago) I find this video interesting. Benkovac is one of those little towns that was hit by war. Such places aren't typical touristy places, so naturally there is less investment in revitalizing the region. Although, that region is very charming and has a lot of history. As the time goes by, I start to realize how much history, beauty, culture, and overall quality of life Croatia has to offer. If you compare the busiest places on the water in the USA to Brac, Hvar, Murter, Sibenik, Zadar ,it doesn't even come remotely close to our coast. However, economic opportunity and overall political stability favors the USA. It is quite unfortunate how badly we have been robbed by the politicans and the overall political climate is still very corrupt and municipalities are rather ineffective. Finally, the locals themselves, on average, arent't interest in prosperity. For example, there are many Croatians who spray tag historical buildings. Hence, Split is covered in graffiti, especially outside the downtown. Super sad... I am from Split. My family is there. I come to visit twice a year cause I love the history, sea, culture, and everything about it. If you need any help settling in, happy to connect. Also, can connect you with my parents, We have a holiday home in Sibenik in case you ever need anything. Milan

You´re right. For the last 2 years economy is doing good, especially the last year with gdp growth and surplus. Forecast for this year is even better. Only problem is still relatively high inflation because people are spending like there is no crisis but it should fall to 2% till the end of the year.

Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy could help your knee and shoulder, you can google the benefits. But no idea if anyone does near you. I enjoyed watching a typical day in winter vid!

Acupuncture was a great help for the tendinitis although it seems to have come back again. I think it all stems from having flat feet and then my whole posture is messed up causing issues everywhere. Not heard of moxibustion but I will check it out. Just need to get these problems repaired so I don’t feel down about training all the time.

yeah this comment of dont film inside is kind of weired. BUt its nice to see your routine, I think Croatia is the countrie of cities. In those les crowded areas we have many old fashioned people which isnt bad but you need to swallow their behavior sometimes. I think life in more urban ares like SPlit, Rijeka, or even Zadar(which is still small) has a different croatian lifestyle then on the not so urban areas.

@@Dusan.Grujic yes. Also a lot of so called refugees bring crime to our country on top of the excisting crime of some dutch people. There is as a result a huge and growing polarization among the people here with rising tensions.
