I was hoping to get a real slow mo of it spinning to see the strips but I think it would take a camera meant for doing that. I hope you get lots and lots of entries. I loved yo-yo's when I was a kid. I had the famous Dunkin yo-yo's everything from regular shapes to the ones that lit up when you ran them up and down. Nicely done Gary and thanks!

Bravo, Gary!! I am doing a 4-day woodturning summer camp for our high school kids and a yo-yo is one of our activities. We won't have time to segment this, but i planned on using hard maple and having the kids hydrodip their yo-yo creations. I will wait for your new 18-seg sled, too....

Thank you Dave. That sounds like a good time a 4 day wood turning class for the students. A great way to keep keep woodturning going. So many things are automated it is nice to have a machine where you get to create from scratch. Pattern making has been taken over but at least I was still getting the few drawings to build from. So the wood turning camp will be teaching them what true wood work is like.

I learned a bit about what makes them effective from making the first one and really wanted to dye a second one so it would have the two toned (three?) effect. It's a fun project to watch so many fun ideas show up.

I used to love playing with a yoyo. My brother and I would compete with one another and often at our local cinema during the Saturday matinee there would be yoyo and hula hoop contests! What a great job making yours. It looks beautiful, and sure seems to work well! Although you mention a simple turning ..... getting to the turning part is anything but 😃. With some of the difficulties I've had gluing up segmented projects, thanks for showing how you work with the segments to get them to hold shape while getting the tension on them. That is an interesting design for a jam-chuck. Nice looking yo-yo and you haven't forgotten how to use one. How is the shoulder doing?

Thank you very much Jim. I made a lot of mounting plates like this at work for large wood turnings that needed centered, Just a few places that you can turn round and it works great. But these were screed in place as those hole could be filled later. And they would be way to big and heavy for hot glue. Well shoulder is still the same but I start PT the end of this coming week. ...wow!...that was a lotta work for a yo-yo...and it turned out amazing!...👍 However, I noticed that due to the rounded shape, it seemed to lose the vortex illusion...I wonder if you had reversed each half, would it have enhanced the vortex illusion? Matt

Thank you. I must have scraped it on something. My skin has gotten very thin and I can scrape it and not know it till I see the blood. That is what I did. It is a very think scab right now so it was not so big.

Thank you Grammy. If you mean my right forearm I scrapped it on something. Seems like my thin is pretty thin now and it takes very little to do that. If it is my shoulder that was from a crash 32 years ago. Thanks for watching, Gary
