Dear Imamu: The trick to cutting sweet potatoes is to never let the sweet potato know you are afraid of it. It's the same with American cling wrap which notoriously sticks to itself when ripping. You've got this!
@PixiiBomb3 жыл бұрын
YES QUEEN! That cling wrap is evil >.>

@AlexeiArntzen2 жыл бұрын
Lol I understand your sentiment, but the trick of cutting a sweet potato is to minimize rolly pollyness. Therefore, you want to cut along an axis perpendicular to the axis along which there is the least curvature on the potato-surface touching the cutting board. For example: a whole sweet potato, which is football shaped. There is less surface curvature along the long axis, compared to the short axis. So you want to make the first cut in half along the axis perpendicular to the long axis. This would lead to two halves that look like Santa hats. In the video, she cut straight along the long axis (making halves that look like canoes), causing an unstable cutting situation. Maximum rolliness and instability. If you put yourself in an unstable situation like this, it's actually the best thing if you are scared, because it's dangerous.

Sometimes life seems really overwhelming to me, and like the monotony will just go on forever... but every time I watch your videos and see "let's survive another week," it reminds me to take life day by day. Imamu, I don't really comment on videos but I honestly adore your videos, your cooking style, and just how simple but inspiring your dishes are. Thank you for creating your channel and staying true to who you are. There was a time when cooking became a chore for me. I used to love it, but with young children coming along, it got harder to put the effort into it and they didn't really enjoy it in the end. But since I stumbled upon your first husbento video, it was like I have found my dream again. I have made several dishes similar to yours and everyone really loves them. My husband spent some time in Japan, so we always love Japanese cuisine and I always try to cook better Japanese meals. Thank you for bringing that passion back and continuing. Every time I need some cheer me on, now I have a place to go to :). I love your favorite dishes as well (seafood and spicy X-) ) and your beautiful sense of humor. Best wishes to your family this year and thank you again for sharing your "ordinary" life to make ours extraordinary.
