All that brainstorming over not feeling the results you want is too relatable . I mean if we are consistent and put in the work with time we get better. It's so obvious, right? And yet in the moment it's impossible to be satisfied with the progress. Thanks for the journaling reminder

you are progressing way faster than most. Definitely be proud of yourself. I remember a friend who was learning how to golf, she hand never swung a club, bat, or anything so her first year, it look awkward and likely felt foreign to her. After a while, not sure how many reps, it became natural and she looks like a pro now. Same with skating and surfing, after some reps, that board will feel like a part of your body and less of something you are riding. Skating is great cuz it give you reps that you can't get in the ocean. Surfing is hard cuz you reps come so seldom, it's not like other sports so don't measure it the same. For as short as you have been doing this, you are way ahead of the curve. Keep it up. I don't know you but I'm very proud of you. :)

Dont ever beat yourself up, remember the best surfer is the one having the most fun. My girlfriend (ex) used to love to see my face after a surf, she said I was like glowing.

You've got good form and you're going to get good fast. You're doing all the things people don't commit to (skate, form function movement, health, holistic approach) and making life support your surfing. Trust the time and enjoy the process - take it easy. It's not the violin because surfing is all about the stoke. Don't forget to froth over good conditions, watch good surfers do turns and give a cheer, and daydream about your next session. It's not a job or anything, it's youth vitality immersed in the natural world and it's an absolute privilege to be able to do. It keeps you young and healthy. At least in your head and heart - I'm still 21 brah. As you progress, the feedback loop is an even higher high. Sometimes, when a pod of dolphins swims by and the sun is the right shade of orange, is when it all hits like glee and reverence at the same time. See you in the water dude.

I definitely struggle with the same things of always wanting to be perfect and expecting my surfing to suddenly become professional over night. This also ties into other aspects of my life, but you are absolutely right, we should try harder to be proud of the progress we've made and the respect for not giving up. Keep progressing, keep improving. Fuck judgment

This video is so encouraging bc I am the same way with my surf journey. It's so easy to feel defeated in the water even if you did well. Like I just want to quit sometimes and I think of Jade and remember I'm not the only person who feels like this. ❤

Girl I’m learning how to surf to and I don’t have none of this and I am still progressing. A lot. I feel like maybe there’s a hint of magic in just being in the ocean and feeling it out on your own sometimes. Love of the water is most Important, every wave is a blessing!

You dropped down too soon. Show us some good fundamental turns (bottom turn, top turn, cutback) on a bigger board. You'll have a lot more fun, catch more waves and get into the waves sooner.

You are just delightful! But I must give you a piece of advice that I am sure will level you out and add ballast. Don't ever let anyone tell you that your not good enough, and that means your self talk too. If you want something then go for it. Make your choice and don't look back. I'm a first impression guy, and as I started watching your vids I could tell you were something special...And I'm not talking about the fact that you are very beautiful(which you are)but you are so very personable and honest that I know people are enjoying being guests on your journey. Always give it everything you've got and stop being critical of yourself. So what if it seems you were better yesterday than you were today. You took lumps and will learn from it. Put on a big soft sweat shirt and sweat pants because you've earned it! Strive for greatness and not perfection. You may become the best at what you do. Ric Flair says it best, "to be the man, you gotta beat the man". I watched the film of your surfing and strongly agree with your trainer, you were doing really good. Continue to build on it. Always, Always remember what Rocky said, "Nothing, nothing hits harder than life. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there if you let it. Because it's not about hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit, and continue to move forward. It's about how much you can take, while continuing to move forward, That's how winning is done. Now if you know what your worth, then go out and get what your worth, and don't let anyone stick their finger in your face and tell you that you're not good enough". We've got your back........

No I so get it when you talk about having such high standards for yourself! When you know you’re capable of more it’s so frustrating when your body won’t do it yet. Things like progress over perfection do help tho!

I have been surfing for 6 months and the school i surf with will not teach me anything but how to surf straight. i REALLY want to start learning how to turn because the waves here are 4-5 feet tall. Do you have any advice how to start turning?

I think it’s be really good if you filmed yourself watching yourself get anxious about surfing and then give commentary about yourself. After that I’d like to see a video of you watching that follow on video of you watching yourself comment about yourself. It would bring me great joy to see that type of content on this channel, does that sound like a viable business plan?

Jade, thanks for sharing your journey. I think because you’ve been quick to make surfing your job, it has become linked with the pressure of a real job because let’s face it jobs have pressure. And in doing so you have missed the part of surfing after the initial learning curve where surfing gets to be soooo fun. The people on tour that surf for a living have had that “fun,” they now work extremely hard and face lots of pressure, but they also remember that feeling of fun. I’ve seen people make fun of you on Reddit for crying all the time and I feel badly because you are being so vulnerable, yet I think it’s because you’ve made surfing your “career” so early on in your process. I don’t exactly have a remedy, but I’m more suggesting it might not be as deep as childhood trauma and just because all jobs have some pressure and you have essentially started a job with limited experience and now have many critics, which comes with a large audience. I suggest finding a group of girls to surf with and going out with them for some sessions just for fun and not filming, don’t think about things you have to work on and just think about the gift of being in the ocean with friends.
