Another beautiful spring weekend here in Seoul! Korea has been blessed with some absolutely gorgeous weather and with the situation here almost completely under control, I thought I'd finally venture to the other side of the river and visit a new cafe in Ikseondong along with my favorite palace in the city :) Hope you don't mind a bit of lazy at home content too, cause I have plenty of that. Sending love as always!!

You mentioned feeling a little self conscious about showing your outings lately but for me, it’s wonderful to continue to see your life in Seoul! I love your illustrations and sketches in the video too. :) Watching your videos helps me feel like I’m walking around with you and exploring even though I’m stuck inside.

I like that korean cafes are so calm and they actually let you stay after you finish your meal. In other places it would be like : "Do you want another coffee?" or basically get kicked out.

Hopefully, customers are at least self aware enough to order enough to make it worth it for cafe owners. Small cafe owners in Korea have said that some people just stay for 8 hours with their laptops and electronics being charged while only ordering 1 or 2 $1 coffees, so they're actually losing money.
@hopeborgmann6905
@hopeborgmann6905 4 жыл бұрын
@@kimjack1000 I agree , I mean there has to be a balance . I just feel that it's rude to be asked to buy a new coffee or product in a cafe for example where prices start at like $6/7 every 30-45min. (for example). I just can't spend that much money . I know ...in that case that person could go to the library but it's just nice to work in a calm surrounding without any pressure still staying conscious that you have to consume enough to actually help the owners. So I agree😊

This might sound a little bit repetetive, but I cant stress enough how much energy,inspiration and just happiness refill your videos bring me!💪🏻🌼 Watching someone who also loves things that I love(like going to cafés,walking in parks and taking pictures of trees and plants😂😁😍🍃 etc) is such a confidence booster! As someone who gets energy and can really enjoy my alone time, as well as exploring places on my own. Watching someone a little older than me showing that that is not something wrong or weird but simply my own way and that is okay means soo much to me and has brought me so much mental peace! Thank you as always!🌾🌸🧡🌼

I think people need to get fresh air when they can. Staying cooped up at home and not going out isn’t completely healthy either. Here in the states, I live near and work in, a really small country town. My parents have sixteen acres so I have plenty of space for fresh air. Ughhh... I am so envious of all the great cafes you have there! 😭maybe one day I’ll get to Seoul. Stay safe!

Hi cari! I just wanted to say that brought up an interesting point about the greenery in cities. We've touched upon it during my geography lessons: the amount of greenery often has to do with in what time period the city was built. Because in cities that where build when they had someone of noble living in it (those from the middle ages / renaissance/ dynasties) often have not only a protective feature, like a city wall, but also places for leisure, like parks. Because people of status valued those things, as it was a luxury to have free time and to spend it outside doing nothing while in the shade. Even if those parks used to be owned by nobility they're now public spaces and owned by the government. You can see that cities build during industrial development and revolutions tend to have less greenery and often ones that have only been placed "recently". Because during those times people barely had any free time and no one in the city valued nature to the point they would invest money and time into creating a public space for it. Ofcourse in modern times even the cities build during industrial times try to put greenery into place, because we now know how good nature is for us.

The coloring book (art as therapy!) is a great idea. I would suggest a serial: "A Taste of Seoul" (so you can include sights, cafes, foods, etc., anything that you visit/taste and love), but it would be much, much better than penny dreadfuls! ;)

I absolutely love your channel! ❤️ Thank you so much!!! You have such a wonderful talent. The cinematography is amazing!! I found you a couple of weeks ago and I am so grateful. It’s helping me get through this lockdown (in England, week 5 or maybe 57 of confinement, I don’t know now) Working from home is crazy busy and when I need a break I turn on a video to heal my heart a little before getting back to the grind. I love seeing you go out and about, enjoying coffee and cake, wandering around - it’s such a joy to see. I’m living vicariously through you! Going through your channel watching past videos, touring different places, so wonderful! Whether you are out and about or talking from home, I love them all!! I have such a long list of things I now want to see and do and also it gives me confidence to go alone. My Korean is very basic and studying as much as I can, my next class (at a language school) was supposed to begin last week but is deferred until September so I have to try to keep with it by myself - motivation 💪 I can do it! Thank you again ❤️❤️❤️

I appreciate a lot the fact that you addressed the feelings of your viewers! At first, I wasn't planning to watch these videos cause I've been in lockdown for two months now and I went out only 4 times to go the pharmacy and I feel like a lost spring, my favourite season. I'm just like you, I love going to places to find my favourite plants and flowers, I wait for this moment all year. But you know what? You do things with such kindness that I watched every single one of these videos cause I felt like I was doing these walks with you and I still got my little piece of springs even in full lockdown, so thanks :)

Cari I mentioned this on my Insta story, please don't be self-concious about these vlogs, you explained the situation in Korea, so the regulars here know it and we enjoy coming along with you! There's no fomo for me. Actually thanks to my allergies I can't enjoy spring like this anyway (I wish I could enjoy it more, but I usually stay inside), so it's really awesome how much it feels as though I'm there with you! And the vlogs are soooo relaxing to watch! That café sketch was so pretty and the aesthetic of you stirring your drink in that last café, it's those little things that bring me joy. Plus the Changdeokgung footage reminded me so much of places I've been to in China when I studied abroad there for a year! I got struck by memory so suddenly and intensely, it almost felt like homesickness (I'm European so it doesn't make sense, maybe call it travel sickness?)

And the music in your videos just creates this sense of wonder and child like curiosity. That's keeping my hope alive. I also feel that videos like this offer an idea of how we will slowly adjust to being in public spaces. I say this because S Korea was hit really hard by the rona before most places. I looooooove watching the videos of your outings! Whenever I'm starting to feel a little stuck and down, watching one of your vlogs is the surest way that I've found to energize me! During regular life, my favourite thing to do is go to for a walk around the city and end up at a cafe and read or draw or journal... and watching you do it is the next best thing to doing it myself. You are actually preforming a valuable public service by letting us live vicariously through you right now.

It is really suprising that Seoul has such massive and beautiful parks with abundance of greens! Here in my city, Manila, the idea of the majority of parks are just not-so-big-scale turf with few benches and trees 😅 Can't wait until travelling outside is permissible again and I would definitely go straight to Seoul! 😆 P.S. Honestly, I'm grateful to watch your little travels in midst of this crisis since me myself couldn't do it here in my country because the ECQ rules are strict. But do always take care and keep safe~ ❤

I live in florida and now the trees and flowers are starting to liven up! Currently most parks and state parks are closed so I cant really enjoy nature to the fullest, but where I live there are enough trees to enjoy it enough. Seeing you out and about is really relaxing 😊

So happy seeing the Secret Garden in this vlog! I absolutely fell in love with it the first time I visited Seoul (2011) and sworn to myself that if I ever had the chance to travel again to Seoul I must visit Secret Garden every time. So far, I've been back 2 more times, always beautiful, but I'm still hoping to see it in Autumn foliage and full bloom Spring.
