I think the current Chinese like to holiday in Japan and South Korea partly due to proximity (cheaper airfares and quite similar food and culture)? The richer travellers may opt for Europe.

@@asylnbola1445 actually it's true. my Chinese friend from Beijing told me he loves to visit japan, and Thailand every year bc the airfare is very cheap. don't forget they are talking about airfare, not the living cost, and bc they understand kanji, so it's super easy for them to travel in japan. I'm thai and before Covid, i travel to japan since i was 10 for 15 years every year bc it's really cheap. there are low-cost airlines, my favorite hotel + airfare cost only about 800 USD for 3 days, and it's a good hotel near the train station too.

The guy should have directly asked "Outside of China, which country you'd most like to visit?" would be a more pertinent question. That'd exclude China as the answer and it's hard to fairly say which country is your favourite unless you've experienced the country for a while. Even as a tourist, there might be some aspects that appeal but a country has to be assessed in totality, both good and bad.

I'm Chinese and if they interviewed me I'd say Thailand or maybe Cambodia, I've always had an interest in the cultures and languages of SE Asia cause they are very exotic, exquisite, and peaceful, and I can see certain resemblances between their cultures/languages and the ones of some South Chinese ethnic minorities like Zhuang, Dai, or Hlai, which I also greatly appreciate.

@@Ash-ve8hh you underestimate the influence that the Japanese culture had on the modern China. everything from movies TV shows music art technology customs and manners. of course, the Japanese civilization was derived from China but in the 19th century it was flipped around because Japan was the most advanced Asian nation that had the opportunity to develop China and Asia firsthand. aside from history. lots of Chinese students find Japan to be fascinating because we are an old Chinese culture that doesn't exist in China anymore. Japanese are good students in China. Chinese students are also excellent students in Japan.

As a Chinese, I want to answer these questions. In my opinion, I like different countries in different aspects.For example, I like the kpop of Korean I liked the anime of Japan I like the view of the North European country. And the culture of the Europe country. As for the US. I like The music and The sports culture.

Kpop is popular here in the US too. Sports is huge here but I'm not into them. And music is huge here. I'm not sure what or if you can pick up our music in China, especially certain types but I hope y'all do! Music is a huge part of my life. I live in Tennessee, USA. Never been to Asia. I use to want to travel to Tokyo but Japan doesn't seem very tourist friendly, I could be wrong but seems like it. Always have wanted to walk the great wall of china and go hiking. I love the outdoors. I do tour guides if you ever come to America. I'd like to see Italy and Babylon Iraq.

Australia stood up to China and humiliated them. That’s because it’s harder to immigrate to Japan due to its immigration policy, and people have unrealistically romantic fantasies about Europe and the US. I’m a Chinese American citizen. My wife and I have decided that after we retire, we’ll go live in different countries and learn their languages and cultures. Our very first stop will be Japan.

@@cualcualcual nah, I mean there were historical disagreements but...we live in a modern society and it certainly does not make sense to hold grudge over historical facts where only ancestors were involved in, plus past is the past. There might still be biases and prejudices present in the minority of the population, no matter Japanese or Chinese, but again, prejudices kind of exist everywhere regardless of race at the end of the day. We are now living in an open minded society, there is no such a thing as "hatred" towards a whole population xD.
