Ever wonder what its like to be a manager at a horse stable? Work on a family farm? Follow along with me as we take care of and manage over 26 Horses! And 2 Miniature Donkeys. Care for and manage cows and chickens. Prepare, Plant, and Harvest Vegetables, Grain, and lots more!
My name is Joel, I work and manage Sunny Knoll Stables located in North Eastern Pennsylvania. There's always something happening as we do our best to take care of these beautiful animals. Between the weather the family and everyday shenanigan's, who knows what is going to happen next!

Hi Joel. we have -2° C here in Germany and snow. It is freeeezin lol. Just watched a video on an Amish barn raising. No power tools and they use wooden nails. It was amazing to watch.

They look like furniture clamps. When a furniture maker is making chairs they will use those clamps to hold the legs together while the glue dries. (just as an example) I should add they come in different sizes depending on the project.

That barn is moving along wonderfully. May I suggest that Sunny Knoll Stables and The Veggie Boys invest in Knee pads!!!? You are not on your knees like someone laying carpet, however I think all of you would benefit from wearing them or at least having them in the barn or farm market for when you do need them. I can not believe it is almost 4 years since A Stable Life was born. Congratulations! You have an amazing channel. I have been here since episode 1. I have no intentions of leaving until I am pushing up Daisies or you stop making videos. See you in the next one.

I dont think you really need to dig dirt on the bottom rungs for it doesn't seem necessary. In fact, when wood (regardless of being pressure treated) will rot sooner when it makes contact with the ground dirt. Your more concerned to keep the second and succeeding others level because the bottom 2x6 is only one of many stabilization planks. The critical ones are the upper ones which are combined with rafters across from one another. But kudos for your day of hard work digging.

Why are the boards you are nailing to the uprights not flush with the ones next to it? It seems by putting them together, they would be stronger & less chance of them shifting. . I hope it's not a foolish question.

Isn't burying the 2x6 boards under the ground a recipe for future disaster?....was the terrain just not leveled enough?

Pressure treated dosent rot, and if the ground is higher there the water won't run to the barn.

I'm sorry I'm a bit confused , when you first started talking about building this barn you said you had so many people to help you but all the videos I've seen so far You're lucky to get two people to help you what happened? Also is your stable just barely getting by financially that you can't get professionals to help you build this? I'm not just talking about building the barn itself but bringing in temp help with the stable so you could focus more time on building the barn yourselves and other things that need to be done around the stables.
