i think she looks better in the artwork than in game, something went quite wrong with the in-game model and I'm not sure if it is technical or artistic. I personally hope to see a PC mod that gives her a better looking face and hair style, though sadly Snowdrop engine doesn't seem to be very moddable, so I doubt we will get any good appearance mods for her.

I think it is unfair to compare face details of characters from decade old games with modern games where the hardware possibilities are not the same. You kinda got a point that other games also make their character look different than the actual actor. Nevertheless this is not a reason to make your character ugly. I don't know if it was on purpose or just Ubisoft's incompetence but there is something wrong about her face in general and the animation. Stop defending Triple A products in a time where these games are made for the quick money instead of delivering a fun and to some degree polished experience

Such a weird thing for people to complain about. I'm about 16 hours into the game and haven't had an issue with Kay's looks. I actually thought she looked like she fit perfectly into that era of Star Wars. Far from a perfect game, but her looks have nothing to do with that. But hey, it's 2024 and no matter what, Star Wars everything will get hated for all sorts of reasons. Some reasonable, and some absolutely insane. LOL.

Something about her looks really, off, and there is also her jaw, which a lot of people say looks like that of a man, which, well, I mean, it's an issue of pattern recognition and modern games often actually really making characters intentionally ugly, (See mortal combat) and people getting sick of that. And Ubisuck is definitely the kind of company who would do that, they want that ESG money, so yeah.

I have the game. I have played it on PC. Its a good game which yes a few issues here and there but nowhere near the complaints others tried to make it out to be. ACG, one of the honest people out there doing all sorts of game reviews was of the same opinion after playing the game. One issue is that for PC gamers is that you need to have an SSD and install the game there. Its like with Ryse which was a console game ported to PC. I also think that a lot of these anti starwars outlaws commenters fall in a certain group of people, the malcontents, that complain about every single thing never being happy. Then you have others that hate anything disney and though they may have some valid points, they are completely and utterly lost in the hysterics and drama these cats put out. None of these naysayers played the game and if they did they played it on either a shitty pc, or just an external or internal normal hd. They are "manufactured outrage" to get paid and get noticed. Some even, like a former phatt british dude that screams a lot admitted to it and to faking game footage ( like putting things on the lowest possible quality).. shitty people all around who are pathological liars. As for game launches, this went perfect. No glitches, no crashes, no serious issues whatsoever ( except for the "preferred installation on SSD"). Compare that to a total war rome 2 launch or a cyberpunk 2077 or even "starfield" ( a game that bricked a lot of peoples gaming rigs to allowing gamers only to play the first 2 minutes and then shutting off) star wars outlaws is near perfect.

It's not an RPG, nor an MMO. It's just an open world game that's following a set story in the Star Wars galaxy based on a ( now Canon ) protagonist. 🤔 It wouldn't exactly make sense to customize the character, now would it? The truth is, it is quite silly and unrealistic to even have that expectation in the first place. 🤦🏽😂 The bar isn't even set hi when it comes to those expecting customization and the ability to create their own character, but instead they set it somewhere outside the realm of this game and what it is meant to be in the first place.. Setting high and unrealistic expectations is a clear path to disappointment. 🤷🏽Just saying... 😉

Cgi Kay is fine but in-game Kay is not and whatever outdated facial animation software they're using is not helping. It also doesn't help that Ubisoft had no issues putting Jon Bernthal in Ghost Recon with actual performance capture. Performance capture probably would've helped the in-game model a lot. If performance capture wasn't an option, they could've used the same software cdpr used in Cyberpunk. Whatever they're using just gives me 2012 bioware vibes and not in a good way.

Why does Sylens have the likeness of Lance Reddick, and Aloy looks nothing like Ashley Burch in the Horizon? It's almost like the main characters are the first ones to have their looks finalized before anyone else. You see supporting characters use the likeness of the actor more because it's easier having a 3D model then ironing out a look for them lol, cuts down production time.

The actress from aliens is an unfair comparison. She was incredible in the role and her look fit the bill for her in that and many other movies of her time. Kay honestly should look even less pretty the way she one punches storm troopers, she should be a gamorrean. That being said, there is nothing wrong with an attractive protagonist. People are drawn to beautiful people. Cal Kestis would not have been a popular character had he been obese or ugly and nor would Starkiller. Beauty can be subjective but we all mostly agree on what makes a person attractive is facial symmetry. Denying these truths makes society delusional and stops people from striving to be better.

I'd agree if there wasn't something off and uncanny valley about her character model. I don't think she should be a model nor do I think that she needs to look exactly like Humberly, but there's just something off. Also, she looks worse in cutscenes than in gameplay, which is usually the opposite. Playing on PC with brand new raytracing tech, this is just far more obvious with the softer shading and shadows that look more realistic versus cutscenes where she almost looks stylized. It all just stands out in a bad way even after I've become used to it all in my 13+ hours.

My thoughts on her appearance, is they tried to make her look more rugged like a smuggler Han Soloish type figure. I don’t think they’ve made her ugly for the sake of wokeness like other people have claimed. It would be nice if a video game could come out without a bunch of culture or console war drama being attached to it like Wukong, Stellar Blade and Forbidden West and soon AC Shadows. Now I feel like I need to go outside and touch grass for caring and getting annoyed too much on the drama. Doesn’t feel good for me, can’t imagine it feeling good for anyone else.

I think she looks great in cover art and some of the main cutscenes. But she looks very inhuman in gameplay and other side mission cutscenes. I don't know if it's game engine issue or mocap problem, but there's something going on there.

I don’t know why anyone would think that they can make completely unique faces out of CGI. It actually impossible to make the characters not look like the actors I mean Andy Serkis looks exactly like Gollum
