The significance of the blue Chaos Emerald is that it’s the first Emerald Sonic obtains in both the first 16-bit game AND ‘06, as well as in both 8-bit Sonic 1 and Sonic Spinball where, in both games, all of the Chaos Emeralds are blue for some reason. Also in the pre-final boss cutscene of Sonic Heroes before the Metal Overlord, Sonic is shown in possession of the blue Emerald.

The voice lines are usually the main reason I'll choose specific victory screens after a fight. Such as Wolf's up screen where he says, "You're good, but I'm better." which is a reference to one of his taunts from one of the Star Wolf fights from Star Fox 64. I don't remember if he says it during the Fortuna or Satellite fights but I know he says it during the Venom 2 fight.

Yes, it's also hard to get a view of the full animation. So if he's able to have the camera locked onto the animation as it plays out in full, that would be great. If hacking the camera, or forcing an animation to play at will, aren't options. Then the best I can think of is to record the entry animation for when the player is 1st and 2nd, in a 2-player game, and then as the 2nd in a 3-player game, and then stitching it all together. It's extra work, but might be worth it.

Which would be Sonic's chaos emerald, for example. Pokémon trainer and other fighters with gender and character specific costumes can sometimes also change the animation (as seen in this video). I don't know what else.

@Aaronitmar I know Smash frustratingly usually cares very little for the Pokemon games and takes far more from the anime than the actual canon but in case the of Red (the male trainer) his poses are not (completely) Smash originals or something from the anime. Left is very similar to Red's trainer card/vs sprite from FRLG and Lets Go! just with the pokeball in the wrong hand, while Up outright takes a pose directly from the og Red and Green's title screen before transitioning into the smash original of raising his fist in the air and finally the right pose Charizard variant ends with a pose that is taken almost wholesale from Yellow and GSC's trainer card/vs sprite. (which is fitting considering Charizard is the most likely candidate of being Red's canon starter)

Would be great if each character had their own theme instead of sharing so much. - If characters like Ness/Lucas, Marth/Roy/Ike comes from different games, limit the jingle to the games they're actually from. - For pokémon, since the jingle is based on gen 1, have only the gen 1 pokémon share it. But pichu, lucario and incineroar (not yet featured) should have jingles based on their debute games. - Luigi should have something based on Luigi's Mansion, and Peach should have something fitting her. Daisy is seen as the character from the sports games, so use something from there.

And I mean EVERY single one (not including spin-offs since spin-offs are still from the franchise like Dissidia Being represented by Sephiroth counter but being fair game to be represented because Final Fantasy was literally born on Nintendo). This pattern, for example, rules out any franchise that never had a single game on Nintendo like Halo, Shenmue, God of War and so many others. What do you think about that? Also Toon Link debuted in Four Swords for GBA, not Wind Waker (at least the concept of Tink. The one in Smash indeed came from WW)

Someone said it was because the voice of Ivysaur in Japanese is female; but with that argument, Pikachu is female despite having a male tail. The only ones we could determine the gender of are Pikachu (based on the tail), and Lucario and Mewtwo which have male speaking lines and based on them being in the films. Not really the same as just the feral like Ivysaur does. But people in the Smash community usually determines that all pokémon are male, except Jigglypuff and female Pikachu, and very rarely Ivysaur.
