Just some additional stuff regarding Rosalina & Luma's reveal trailer that wasn't mentioned here: Masahiro Sakurai has mentioned this first tidbit when looking back at all of the reveal trailers created for Smash 3DS, Wii U and Ultimate, but the inclusion of Kirby in the trailer ultimately gave it a Mario Kart VS Kirby Air Ride feel to it. This is also helped by the choice of music in the first moments of the trailer where Kirby rides across the stars and eventually Rainbow Road, which is the opening theme of Kirby Air Ride. And just in case no one mentioned it yet, Kirby dancing with the Luma at the end of the reveal trailer is also a clear nod to the Kirby Dance, which the pink puffball typically performs upon clearing a stage or beating a boss in his home series. How cute!

The Mii reveal trailer was actually super underrated from a marketing perspective. It used Nintendo celebrities doing something completely random and unexplained (but awesome), before specifically highlighting the Wii U gamepad, which was obviously being pushed heavily at the time, and then doubling up for a cross-promotion with the Amiibo reveal. Really good stuff! Also, for Mega Man’s “joins the battle” I always interpreted that as a callback to Brawl, since Mega Man was among the first reveals for Smash 4. Brawl actually started the taglines with the character’s name, followed by “joins the brawl”.

There's a possible detail a lot of people miss in Villager's reveal trailer. Rosie and Margie are both main characters in the Animal Crossing movie, and if that wasn't enough, Margie in the movie has a sketchbook, while that's not the same as the regular book she is reading from in the reveal trailer, they are still pretty similar further cementing the possible nod. It's just too much of a coincidence considering both villagers otherwise have no real significance.

I remember when I was 13 back in 2009 when I first played Brawl for the first time. I took notice of Palutena (for various reasons). I played a lot of Smash Bros Rumble (Old PC Smash Bros fan game a lot of people played before we had Smash Bros Crusade) and saw Pit's final smash in that, but not Palutena until I played Brawl. Of course I fell in love at first site cuz look at her. But I made a prediction to myself saying "What of she makes it in the next game assuming we get a next game?" Naturally I forgot over time cuz 2009, 2014, that's a long enough time. Then BOOM I gotten the game on Wii U (along with the Wii U too) the year it came out and saw her in the game. I was happy.

Imma be honest, I love the feeling of unlocking characters because it really feels like there's a character witnessing your strength and wanting to challenge you. As for reveal trailers a few of them are Everyone is Here, Mega Man, Steve and Little Mac. Also, they did Mega Man dirty with his splash art. I wish it were something other than "Joins the Battle" because that's literally the default.

Interesting to hear that Shaft were the ones who did the Palutena trailer. As for my favorite trailer, it's that one, out of the ones in this video. For my ACTUAL favorite, it's a toss up between Sora and Inkling. Sora's was more me going "he's finally here," as at the time, he was my most wanted fighter, which apparently I had a good track record with because I wanted Inkling, Sephiroth, Pyra/Mythra, and Sora in the game, in that order, and that's what happened. Inkling's was amazing to me because it evoked a HUGE feeling of nostalgia for me, since Splatoon is one of if not my favorite video game series of all time, up there with Pokemon. Seeing that Splatoon 1 trailer recreated made me so happy and excited for something new for Splatoon, but then seeing it go dark and having the fiery Smash ball made me go "oh shit, this is happening."

Another tidbit: Right before Mega Man uses the Flame Blast, his Mega Busters open up on the sides. Sakurai explains this is to vent himself out since he will overheat when he uses both hands. (He does the same thing when using the Spark Shot.) While Mega Man's arms never vented like this in the games, it's a reference to _Super Rockman Adventure,_ a Japan-exclusive game for the PS1, where it's revealed that if Mega Man were to use both of his busters at the same time, he would overheat.

interestingly, in the sequence where villager misses luma multiple times with his net on skyloft, plays out next to what is (if i remember correctly) the home of batreaux, a character whose sidequest revolves completely around so called "gratitude crystals", which could be seen as visually similar to a yellow luma also, while these aren't necessarily collected using the net, a bugnet IS a very prominent item in skyward sword, and also one of the few you actually get in skyloft also i'm pretty sure samus rolling in front of mac and doc is just a funny tumbleweed joke, but again referencing the connection between mac and samus

Small thought I had when thinking of "By Book, Blade, and Crest of Flame". Probably nothing, since it's not how it works in games like Awakening, but...in the Tellius games (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn), wind tomes were strong against fire tomes.
