I don’t think the description of “low trust society “ is apt here, on the contrary it’s a high trust society with its local people and small businesses. I personally don’t think India should follow US model of big brands , big retail chains, Walmart etc, thriving small businesses is what makes India unique and poised for growth PS - most of the profits from these unorganised businesses are not accounted in GDP growth and income tax contribution, hence the realistic GDP is way higher than official data

Ratan tata gives away his fortunes to charity , mukesh ambani doesnot give it in that scale . Also Tata were also involved opium trade in British rule . Because they had to use that chance , just like that reliance in license raj had no other option but to go with the government. farmers to this day pay money to government middlemen , because law doesnot allow you to sell private ,old socialist laws . When the government tried to reform , there was a protest in 2021 from one state punjab middleman empowered people and farmers . So in India even to do normal buisness you needed to pay government employees bribes due to regulations . But people Will not consider it because (Socialism). Edit :- I do not encourage any illegal activities by any company if proved in a court of law , but just stating few facts . (I am a law student).
