The conversation you had at night was truly amazing. The way he asked you about airplanes and how he thought that there are countries where you can't see the sun.. it made me very emotional, not because it's sad, but how you could speak in a language you both know and could explain him how it actually works. He must have felt so smart after that. These videos in Africa are beautiful! I do hope you guys will make more. Keep on doing this great work, Thomas and the gang. @@rimo7110 This is also what I'm most curious about. How do they see the world? I imagine when your life only revolves around such a small area, you'd have to be so connected to the land. To Thomas and the team, it's been a journey with Yes theory for 6years now, I always dreamed of this day when you'll visit one part of my country and show it to the world. As a Cameroonian, I really appreciate when people travel to Cameroon and tell the stories without any biases/presumptions. I am happy for you, that you got to experience this part of Cameroon, as many of us never get this far outside of our comfort zones. But I also really empathise with what you had to go through at the end of this experience and I hope it does not discourage any other plans you guys had for travelling around this beautiful continent. A well is a very common source of drinking water. At my parent's house, we actually dug one and sent out to the community where people could get free drinking water. So I will be happy to contribute to a cause that can provide one for this community. The Yes Theory team continues to inspire me to think different and be more open and this video did just that. Now i have so much respect for you fir visiting Africa and telling the world how beautiful African people are and hospitable as well As a kid I lived in the edge of am african forest and I remember my dad would always leave excess food just incase for strangers that travel at night so they always get something to eat..people would shout in the middle of the night once they are out of the forest so villagers nearby would come meet them and take them home..we didn't know them..but we helped them and treated them so well ...😊

Such a nice way to live, to be so close with everyone around you, and not work a corporate job with all the day to day rush and hurry we seem to have in our lives, but instead to spend time with each other and dance and just take care of your community. It’s so underrated and beautiful truly. This was great!!

Sorry to see what happened at the end. I’ve been faced with the same situation, when you only have good in your heart and people mistake it that you’re somehow doing something malicious. Bravo Tom

Its not that they think you're malicious. They have the means to find out who you guys are, and when they do find out that you are a popular KZbinr/Journalist/Travel Vlogger/Influencer etc (no matter how good your intention) they can simply accuse you of being a spy (or anything that threatens their state or nation) which allows them to arrest you under suspicion, especailly if you are not affiliated with the UN or MSF etc. This is so they can then extort you for money without getting backlash from global humanitarian organisations who would then be able to sanction the country from any international trade or assistance due to their illigal actions against foreigners. As a South African i know this happens all over Africa and its so sad.

This was such a touching video you did Thomas. Leaving yourself so vulnerable is extremely admirable. The interactions you were able to have were amazing, genuine and eye opening, and made me emotional (“we won’t forget about you”). It’s awful it ended in such a manner…while experiencing another culture and way of life, and upon returning “back” meant fearing for safety. I’m excited to learn more from this African series, it’s been great so far! thank you for showing us a small bit of the Baka people and sharing their story.

This is one of my favourite videos Yes Theory has ever put out. I could really see Thomas seeking discomfort and the conversation he had at night was gift of connection we all are seeking. Such a beautiful group of people with such kindness. Sorry it ended on a negative note, I hope Thomas is okay and he returns to finish his vision of his Africa Saga series.

For years i've always been concerned about the decline of these native cultures due to influence from the wider world, but after seeing your conversation at night with that young man I can't help but wonder if it's a good thing at all to stifle the curiosity of such young people. It's an interesting thing to consider, and has definitely helped reshape the way I considered remote cultures around the world. I still don't know what to think about this, but thanks for the perspective Thomas.

I'm taking a class on educational communication and in it we had to study the ethics of having people 'leave their tribe'. It focused on how any education can radically shift someone's perspective irreversibly from that which they were raised, even say a liberal arts education. I argued that it is unethical to withhold education but we can't control how someone may interpret things and what they choose to do with their new outlook. I feel that education tears down prejudices and stereotypes so that we can be more empathetic to those outside of our tribe because we are given the gift of critical thinking.

This reminds me so much of the time I spent 3 days with the Asmat people of New Guinea. They live practically a world away from the Baka, but go through the exact same struggles. Our group even did a hunting/gathering trip into the jungle with them like you and were covered in ants and spiders like you were. So many memories. We also brought gifts of food, medicine and things like soccer balls. We didn't speak the same language though. We had a translator with us that spoke Indonesian and English. A few of their town elders spoke Indonesian. Their food, which was pulp from the Sago trees, was very difficult to get down.

The best thing about this channel is how it keeps reminding us that we all live on this planet together and the importance of embracing different cultures and mindsets. We have so much to learn from each other! I'm in Bali these days and there's not a day that goes by that I'm not amazed by humble kindness or forced to evaluate why we seek comfort, instead of adventure and personal growth. I'll be back in Norway in a couple of weeks to celebrate Christmas, but then I'll be off again on new adventures until my savings dry up. And then... who knows what life has in store. It'll work out. In any case I won't need to fear regretting not going for my dreams when I'm older. Yes Theory inspires everyone around them, whether that being in real life, or here on KZbin. Thank you for bringing us along, exciting as always😍

The conversation about the airplane for some reason has me almost in tears. The genuine curiosity, the sweetness of the kindness between Thomas and the Tribe member, the fact he waited there until everyone else was gone to ask questions about the world… that moment I’m sure was on Gods highlight reel of humanity. I was having a bad day until I saw that moment.
