The grass area was the main practice field. The turf area was for athletes recovering form injury. The double doors closest to the grass area was the entrance to the locker room and training rooms. The double doors closer to the turf area go to the weight room. Down the hallway to the left of the main lobby are the classrooms. I was able to take several tours many years ago and got a really good lay of the land. So much so that I could have given a tour. I enjoyed your vid. Thanks for the memories.

I am watching this video for the first time. I am 57 years old. I grew up in San Diego. I attended Roosevelt Jr, Morse and Serra high. As the child of an AD Navy sailor, we lived in Spring Valley Navy housing. From 1977 to 1980, the ages of 13 to 15 I was fortunate to have been selected as a ball boy for both the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres. Nearly 3 years of the best summers and fall seasons of my youth. Dan Fouts, Charlie Joiner, Bob Klein, Billy Shields, Hank Bauer, John Jefferson….. the whole team, the managers, the coaches. There were 9 of us each year. They treated us like their own children. We went anywhere we wanted in JM stadium, and the HQ “clubhouse”. Each year we were given so much gear and loot…. 3 different times after practices Dan Fouts and John Jefferson actually gave me a ride home, all the way from Mission Valley to Spring Valley. I always remember how Coach Coryell who was always a “grump” on game days, was such a “grandpa” on practice days, and during mini-camps. One of the greatest, most memorable days in my life was being introduced to Johnny Unitas as a 14yo kid when he came to watch the players during practice one time…. I was a steadfast Chargers fan my entire life. No matter where I lived, no matter who was “hot” as a team. Through all of the rough years…. My support never wavered. The team had my life long support as a fan because of the way they treated me “like family” when I was a kid. The day I found out that Spano was moving the team to LA, I cried… straight up. I cried because I couldn’t imagine the Chargers playing anywhere else. Being called anything else. All the fans, not just me, or the other ball kids over the decades; but all of the fans who cared just as much as I did….. it really hurt when Spano made it clear that nothing mattered to him but the dollar…. It was the last instance of “life’s illusions” from childhood…. Nothing was sacred. As long as the Spanos family retains ownership of the Chargers I hope each week that they never win another football game. John Spanos is a pariah on this franchise. I “hate” very few people in this world; but I hate Spanos for what he took from all of us.

I used to work in the industrial park on Clairmont Mesa Blvd. above Charger Park, having to look down onto it every day.....that doesn't hurt. The destruction of The Murph (Jack Murphy Stadium) hurt. BAD. Still does.They used to train in the canyon off the 805 in La Jolla. In the 60's they trained for a time in Escondido, of where I was born and raised. &#*% the Spanos family. Deceit & lies. I love the San Diego Chargers, of which now there are none. I - and all of San Diego - will "never say L.A." Alworth, Hadl, Garrison, Gillman, Fouts, J.J. Jefferson, Winslow, Breeze, Tomlinson, Gates, Seau - ghosts. R.I.P.

Moving to LA has been the kiss of death for the Chargers! Good job Spanos!

Yea kiss of death. Spanos increased the value of his team by over $350 million. Spanos is crying, all the way to the bank.

Playing at Stubhub Center has helped opposing teams more than this team! The Chiefs felt like they were at back home in KC when they were playing the Chargers this past Sunday!

You shitty voters couldn’t pass a simple hotel tax to folks vacationing in SD? You’ll NEVER get another team. EVER!
@LAFan6 жыл бұрын
@@reekkoh San Diego has more foreigners now than native San Diegans. These people came via chain migration from China and India and became US citizens. They can care less about NFL football and that's why Measure C failed. I agree that it was a no brainer to let out of towners pay a small room tax in order to build a new stadium and convention center downtown, but SD voters said no. The NFL will never return to San Diego.

Pelon don’t disagree with you there. Same reasons the PSL’s are being discounted every month that passes for the new Rams/Chargers stadium.

San Diego is such a better vibe than LA. I don’t even like SO-FI stadium. It’s nice but too futuristic plus they share it with the rams greedy owner. Doesn’t feel like a real home field/Stadium A true outdoor stadium with no roof or retractible roof and the SD vibe will always be my dream. I love the players but SD is home and always will be. Spanos screwed us diehards

Agreed on all points

Just curious but what was the reason that Eli Manning didn't want to play in San Diego? Looks like a nice place before the move. I am from Pittsburgh, live and die with my Steelers and had soft spot for the Chargers, except when they beat us in the AFC Championship in the mid-90's. Stan Humphries was amazing for SD for a few seasons.

I can't argue, I wish the Chargers could be FORCED to move back to San Diego by the NFL, with NO EXCEPTIONS WHATSOEVER, I may not live out there in California, but to ME, they will ALWAYS be the SAN DIEGO SUPERCHARGERS like Chris Berman on ESPN used to say

ericradford2142 That doesn’t matter. It literally makes no sense to have the rams in St. Louis. The city is deptessing and very little potential. You have no idea how much activity has been going on in LA since the rams returned to their rightful city. Literally the greatest stadium in the world is being constructed and will be complete by summer 2020. This stadium will host the olympics, World Cup matches, and all kinds of other incredible events. Now tell me on what planet would it have been better to forego all of that for the team to remain in St. Louis where the attendance was THE WORST in the NFL. To the rams fans that remained loyal I want to say thank you, but objectively speaking the team moving was the best move for the fans and the league as a whole.

Personally I think it woulda been smarter if Raiders and Rams were in LA . Chargers should of went to Las Vegas. Plus the name Las Vegas Chargers has a nice ring to it. Especially since its one of the brightness cities in the world . They could've built a new image. Raiders and Rams are LA and that'll never change .

Cant believe he spanos are that blind to reality. They turned down Vegas for LA. People get out of their ice cold towns and go to SD for football. They dont go to LA. Now the Raiders in Vegas will attract ALL the FANS. Stan Kroenke will kick out the Chargers in 3 years due to the overhead cost for the Rams to fund the spanos'. Vegas is the ultimate tailgate pregame city. .... but damn, the Chargers do have a great QB in Herbert.

As a lifelong Charger fan, I wish the Chargers could’ve stayed in San Diego, but don’t blame them for leaving. It’s the City of San Diego that is to blame for the Chargers leaving. The team was begging the city to help them build a new stadium, but the city wouldn’t budge. San Diego remains my favorite city in the entire country, but I’m still pissed they wouldn’t get over themselves and just build the damn stadium… but tbh, it’s not all bad bc the Chargers now play in the nicest stadium in the NFL. SoFi is one of one 💎🥇🐐
