An abandoned theater in the middle of a Belgian city? This place has been locked for several years but last week we got a tip that a door was open. We didn't think about it for a second and we jumped in the car and drove to this place. Once we where inside we could not believe what we saw in there. It was just mind blowing that such a place was abandoned. All the lights still functioned in this place and it was just magnificent to see. A little bit of history about it, It was build in 1892 by an Italian architect. He used Italian style for the inside and neo-Gothic style for the outside. It was used to host different kind of shows from opera to rock concerts. Due to the maintenance cost of the place they had to close it down in 2015. It is due to reopen in 2022. I hope you guys enjoy this place as much as i did and i witch you a great time watching the video.

The vandals never get caught and never get in trouble, and if they do get caught they get a tiny warning and keep doing what they've always been doing. But the ones who go in and take videos and pictures and never harm the place are the ones who most often get caught and get into trouble when they did nothing wrong. As long as they didn't break anything to get into the building, they should be left alone. All they're doing is looking and documenting.

I am in awe of this beautiful place! Architecture is just incredible n the ceilings take my breath away. So grateful that they will renovate it. Because it would be a total waste of history. People still go to operas n live performances. The dome part was nice to see. Loved the hat! Thank you for sharing this and ING place.

Lesley, what a gorgeous place. Aside from a little bit of peeling paint, there doesn't seem to be much to do since the 'bones' of the theater seem structurally sound. Glad they are renovating/updating and plan to reopen.Thank you for sharing this gem with us.

Yes , I agree with his English command. And............ the more videos he narrates the better he will become. I wish we would see more of Jordy. I think his English understanding is good, but he has a bit more difficulty speaking it. IMO.

It would be lovely if they would open it back up, it is beautiful!! To think how many people through time have sat in the seats, I can almost picture and imagine a woman with her Hat, and long dress, and a man with his suit on, the beauty of older places, I so enjoy seeing your Journey along at these places. Thanks for sharing!! xoxo

Simply beautiful large Theater. While watching this coverage one feels travelling back in time. We are pleased to note that this historical heritage theater structure will be renovated. We hope that all the original design patterns would be maintained, and the building deserves to be protected and renovated back into its original glory.

One of your best explores yet. I wonder if there was an organ that rose up from the basement level. Alot of the old opera houses in USA had those. I love that place..so opulent. Breathtaking. Will watch this several times. Thank you for showing such beauty. 🐱

So happy to hear this is not an abandoned opera house, just awaiting a restoration which, even though it looks basically sound, will cost into the millions I would think. Hopefully they preserve the ceilings and ornate lighting fixtures, restore dome paintings also! I should think In Europe, it will be an easier task to find artisans who can still make moulds and cast missing plaster/gilded parts of the ceilings etc. Beautiful place and thank you for this latest adventure. Disappointed you didn’t give us a little taste of your Swan Lake ballet routine in tights though! Lol
