Does anyone know if this type of homemade detergent will clog the drain piping and washer pump over time?
@julies28143 күн бұрын
No, not if you use the liquid Castile Soap that does not buildup in the drain There's no fats like coconut oil, which will buildup in the drain. I've been using a recipe quite similar to this since several years ago with no problems. I switched back temporarily to commercial laundry soap and we all developed contact Dermatitis and allergies. Plus commercial laundry soap is full of PFA'S, Endocrine and Hormone disrupters, and a toxic mix of chemicals

Anxious to try this! Do you have a recipe for dishwasher detergent? Thanks!
@miriammarquez406122 күн бұрын
@Abbey, I really want to try this but I’m so afraid cause I heard that those homemade soaps can damage your washer machine, specially if you use the shredder bar soap on it.
@julies28143 күн бұрын
I only use the liquid Castile Soap and have no problems.

This is great! Thank you. I have eczema so I have to watch what I use. Do you have recipes for shampoo and conditioner?
@abbeyverigin29 күн бұрын
I don’t. I love the brand carina organics for clean shampoo/conditioner

What's the alternative for castille soap? I cannot find it in my country, will marseille soap work the same? I really want to try the recipe! Also can I skip baking soda?
@abbeyverigin17 күн бұрын
Hi! I’m not familiar with marseille soap so I can’t say for certain. Baking soda could be left out

How much do you use per load?😊
@abbeyveriginАй бұрын
For my HE machine I do about 1/4 cup for a regular load 1/3 cup for larger. For a standard I’d do a bit more, prob 1/3 cup for regular and 1/2 cup for larger

I currently use white vinegar as a fabric softener, will it react badly with this laundry soap?
@abbeyverigin29 күн бұрын
I would just add the vinegar to the rinse cycle, but you might find you don’t need it. Best not to mix castile soap and vinegar, the vinegar would cause the soap to unsaponify but adding it just to the rinse cycle should avoid thst

What brand of washing soda?

Either arm and hammer or eco pioneer are the brands I typically buy

I tried this recipe a few months back but it did separate and the top part turned to slim and had to dispose of it. I’m planning to try it again because it seems like a good recipe. Can you tell me if you know why that would happen so I know that for next time?
@kalinowskipower-cfmotoatvu324329 күн бұрын
I think the slim is the castile soap floating on top
@abbeyverigin29 күн бұрын
Hmm I’m sorry to hear that, I haven’t found it to turn to slime. Did you use liquid or bar Castile soap? Leaving out the baking soda can help prevent any separation, I like the addition of it though and don’t mind if I have to give the jar a shake
@roxygilbert1324 күн бұрын
@@abbeyveriginI Used the liquid. And I don’t mind that it separates but then the slime part wouldn’t mix back in. The only thing I did different from your previous video is I used redmonds real salt because I did t have the one you used. Maybe that makes a difference? I now have the one you used so I’ll try it again.

Castile is pronounced 'casteel' I believe. I use Dr. Bronners also. Good stuff!
@345reneeАй бұрын
Why does it matter as long as it works. People pronounce things differently all the time. That is a small thing compared to the great information she is providing.
