Julia can I use Dr. Bronner's bar soap? That's easy for me to get where I live.
@JuliaRaeConnor11 ай бұрын
I've never tried with that brand but I'm sure it would be fine. You could always make up a small batch to test to see if you like how it washes and rinses. I know some people use fels naptha but the ewg rating just isn't as good so I've always opted for some kind of castile oap instead. Thanks for watching! Let me know how your homemade laundry soap goes. :)

I’ve been watching so many videos on this I am making some tomorrow. Lol I am also in Canada and just wanted to say I found the washing soda at Canadian Tire which I was actually surprised by. Great video 😊

I know you're not adding essential oils at the moment, but I kind of miss the smell of something. What oils do you suggest and how much would you add to the 5 gallons? Thank you!

Thanks for watching! I love lavender and lemon together (kind of smells like fruit loops to me haha) - 30-50 drops total evenly split between the two. I've done just lemon oil before at 40-50 drops per batch. This totally depends on how strong you prefer the scent, so you could split your batch and do a less drops in one and more in the other to see which you prefer. I like stronger scents so I opt for closer to 50 drops per batch. I have a family member who makes this and simply drops an entire 30 ml bottle of thieves oil blend into hers and she loves that. I hope that's helpful!

Does the soap that was grated ever settle? I make a homemade one using a liquid Castile soap and it settles and then clumps up....but it also could be I am not using boiling water to mix with it....
@JuliaRaeConnor9 ай бұрын
I haven't noticed the grated castile soap clumping or settling - but I do think it's because I dissolve it fully in the boiling water. I also think it has to do with the brand of castile soap. The more simple the ingredients the better - at least in this recipe I find. Hope that helps!
