That's nothing, Methuselah lived to 969. And he's actually touching on an important connection between Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac and God sacrificing Jesus. That's something theologians have pointed out for centuries actually. When Isaac inquires why they've ascended the mountain without a sacrifice, Abraham replies, "God will provide the sacrifice". He even tells the servant, "you wait here, and I will return with the boy". Abraham clearly understands that God does not intend to actually kill Isaac, or at least not to leave him dead. And sure enough, they find a goat in the briars to be the sacrifice. A picture of the Christ, sacrificed in our place. The sacrificial lamb tangled in a thorny crown.

@@c.a.t.732 I don't recall Jim saying that word a single time. Jim is a Catholic. Not a very good one, but a Catholic nonetheless. Some bible stories are strange, sure. And that makes for good comedy. But that's different than being openly hostile to the bible, which Carlin definitely was. Finally, simply having some bible literacy, whether you believe it or not, sheds a lot of light on what these narratives are actually about. But of course when you add context and understanding, a lot of the humor is going to go away. It's only "creepy" if you don't understand it.
